Pisces69 6th Gear September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 If i am the car cam I would quickly try to squeeze into back of truck rather than continue to overtake Or else if really try to overtake the truck I would tap my honk to let the truck know I am overtaking and require him to slow down In conclusion this guy indeed a moron, u must know ur car performance well before doing this stupid stunt Ive seen similar situations on Msian hways several times. Just lucky no head-on crash. Otherwise the medics wil have to scrape the cars occupants out with a scraper. And put all the little pieces in an envelope. ↡ Advertisement
Pisces69 6th Gear September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 Driver in camera-mounted car should had accelerated faster if he was overtaking others travelling at that speed. The said car may had worn shock-absorbers, so loss adequate road adhersion to crashed like that. The driver over-estimated his cars power n his skill. Pure n simple. A very common problem when the police fill in their accident n death reports.

Atonchia Supersonic September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 Seems like the cam car is a 4x4 or SUV. Rolls over like one. Yup from the video it's high, but in terms of the power seems very lacking.
Wt_know Supersonic September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 (edited) this is common in msia B road lorry infront and sometime got 1 or 2 car following the lorry don't dare to overtake slowing down all cars behind so ... a faster car behind has to overtake 1 car + 1 lorry or worst 2 car + 1 lorry hence, the fast car must have awesome acceleration and enough space to overtake safely Edited September 24, 2014 by Wt_know

Yewheng Twincharged September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 Actually the driver have chance to drop back and queue behind the truck either squeeze between the 2 cars or behind all and do it all over again when safer to do so. Don't know what he thinking, once he start overtake and see the truck in front coming fast head-on, I think siao lao sure head on unless slot in back the queue. Lucky he veer left and avoid head on collusion, if not I think all passengers and driver inside car sure die.
Sam7770 4th Gear September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 Do not attempt a multi vehicle overtake unless you can break it up into smaller overtakes and each time reassess if you can continue safely! He had no abort plan - off the gas, brake if necessary (buys him time), slot back into his lane, behind the car he is passing if necessary. You have to judge this early, but any vehicle coming toward you is an abort, you have no idea of the closing speed and it's no time to be guessing. There's no loss of face in aborting an overtake - sometimes you have to pull out to have a look before you commit. Other cars with no intention to overtake should allow you a pocket to slot back into, but from this video it looks like the other cars ahead wanted to pass too, so he was being an impatient idiot on many levels.
Spring Moderator September 25, 2014 Share September 25, 2014 patience is a virtue. Ah Gong always dispensing the wise advise. Yes patience is indeed a virtue n I would even go as far as to say if I'm granted just one wish, it would be precisely to have patience in everything I do n in every situation I'm in!!

Roh96 6th Gear September 25, 2014 Share September 25, 2014 The cam car driver should be thankful he is still alive to post this clip. What if he head on with the truck?

Acemundo Supercharged September 25, 2014 Share September 25, 2014 Yes when u honk then most of the times the lorry will understand and slow down to let u filter in actually my case was the opposite. it was the lorry on the opposite lane that i almost bang heads on who stopped. the bloody lorry driver on my same lane was playing with me, speeding up to block me from filtering in initially. Knoobie Supercharged September 25, 2014 Share September 25, 2014 8 - 10 seconds is too far - I used to do it beause I knew where the "straight" sections of road were - I could time it to get a bit of speed up, and then be reaching the straight section just on time, In general though - if you car is not so powerful, drop back a little - and then get up to speed BEFORE moving to the right lane - this minimises the time spent on the wrong side of the road, and you can always abort if need be. this advice probably not as relevant as it once was (I see it has been removed from the latest NZ road code) sometimes.. I wonder a driver needs to be taught such things... is he/she really fit to drive.. this is common in msia B road lorry infront and sometime got 1 or 2 car following the lorry don't dare to overtake slowing down all cars behind so ... a faster car behind has to overtake 1 car + 1 lorry or worst 2 car + 1 lorry hence, the fast car must have awesome acceleration and enough space to overtake safely and importantly, judgement
