Very scary, and SAF consists mainly of the race they killed, mutilated. [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

I remember during that time and 9/11, our ict become very serious and on the ball....... [sweatdrop]

we soldiers also take the training more seriously.......

Will communist vietcon's tunnels be relevant in this part of the world if war ever break out again? The US forces had air superiority at the time but still lost the fight in the end. [sweatdrop]

Actually, contrary to beliefs, the US don't have air superiority over Vietnam.

USSR was openly (but unofficially) helping the North Vietnamese.

The US knows that, but because they do not want the conflict to be blown wide open, there are strict ROE for shooting down enemy planes, because some of them are flown by USSR pilots.

And USAF/USN high command only allow their planes to fly through certain flight corridor. Obviously, once the Vietnamese learns of this, they concentrate all their AA guns on these few corridors.

Sar 21 got zeroing too. Unless u referring to combat zeroing

In. It is better as it has laser pointer, M16 or Ar15 the glow in the dark CMI sometime require to Zeng it with light stick to help in night shoot

Yup I refer to combat zeroing. Not only that, it's a take and aim rifle due to the scope. I can use my buddy's SAR21 and still score. The only problem is the LAD which still need to zero, but a lot easier that organizing zeroing firing detail to shoot the Canadian bull.

Anyone remember even for m16 we are occasionally issued strapped on LADs for use I remember keeping them in my fullpack most of the time, or even leave them in the bunk, unless ATEC ll must mount . They are such a pain to mount and zero every exercise.

With sar21, no excuse liao.

They have the killer-instinct but may be lacking combat skills and equipment etc. Such killer-instinct combined with ruthlessness can be deadly, especially against so-called hi tech 4G enemies who are soft-hearted, and who tremble at the sight of blood. [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

I think the hi tech "enemy" knows, that's why they strive to upgrade themselve to whatever Gs they can reach to trade off the soft-heartness weakness of theirs.

The aim is to hit them and keep them at bay even before we see their killer instincts.

Who fights melee combat these days?

Wow, thanks for the information!!!

actually zeroing is practical physics.....we are zeroing the rifle's front aperture to the rear sight (forgot what is was called). Everybody's sight is the same as in a straight line....nobody would have a eyesight that is bent or warped not counting refracted or corneal deformities. My company A coy 1 SIR for our final reservist ratp had SG shooters for trainers (my company i was told by a regular officer still hold the record for highest 100% passes and highest record 80 marksmen in a single test in 1986). The trainer shooter did not even have a rifle with him....he just took any rifle from the men who had finished zeroing their M16 and shot all kind of target including moving targets and he scored 100% hit. The only failure he had during zeroing was when the bullet missed 10 meters off its target at 100m....and he told the firer to use the extra m16 available. Edited by Eviilusion

Yup we zero the weapon not zero the shooter. Hence once weapon is properly zero-ed, bobo is the shooter not the weapon. [laugh]

I think should be zero the weapon to individual shooter's eye. else, all the weapons will be factory zeroed already.

During last reservist ratp....we even had targets scoring 6 shots even though only 4 rounds were given to each man.....damn funny sia! I was already downgraded then and was attached to the trainers and controllers.

no lar...eye is not the problem....its law of physics...light travels in a straight line....in training the rifle goes through many knocks and rough handling so the alignment will naturally goes haywire just like our car's wheels alignments....need to get them aligned then it will travel straight. All weapons do come factory zero-ed, but along the way before reaching the shooter's hands at the range, dropped on floor, stripped, assembled, thrown here thrown there, banged here banged there, parts get spoiled and replaced, so have to keep zero-ing lor.

Sounds like someone shot the wrong target. [laugh]

cannot be lah. as individual shooter place their heads on the weapon differently, the zeroing is to align the foresight tip and rear aperture to suit the individual shooter. that is why different shooter will have different clicks on both the foresight tip and rear aperture.

we talking about M16 here right? SAR21 will be different concept.

zeroing is to align the M16 barrel to the foresight and the front aperture (forgotten which is which)....the rest is physics! I also heard the theory of clicking to ones eye in the 80s....that was the simplest theory that had to explain the exercise.....if not the officers and ncos has to teach the law of physics to a bunch of uneducated teenagers (me included) in Hokkien Malay and Tamil......that will be the day! damn. like that my nco must have smoke me during my NS days liao...... [:(]

I have seen M16 click to the extreme but still cannot be zeroed.........

me too....hahahaha!

Ya....some weapons cannot be zeroed because the foresight tip and the rear aperture are out of placement with the barrel and no matter how many corrective readjustment the misalignment is too much. This kind of misalignment can only be done by a trained technician as u have to disassemble both the tip and the aperture and do a thorough corrective assembly and sometime it is due to warp or bent barrel which i think cannot be repaired....need to change the barrel!
