Altis2016 1st Gear February 16, 2017 Share February 16, 2017 When I did my 5k @ Leng Kee, they took half a day. Do servicing @ AD I feel is a bit different. They must go thru there check list and check on yr complain. After that, the tester has to test rum yr car. Finally, they will wash (although nothing to shout about) and vacuum yr car. I nvr check this time, but @ 10k servicing which also took half a day, they also clean the external of engine. I think why it took so long for my 20k is because it is 23rd Jan the week of Chinese New Year. The 2nd time is because that actually ventilate my car to get the rid of the foul smell. I feel the long wait is worth it since they manage to restore the car to the original condition although I still do not know what the hell they did. U may also be right that they are short handed due to the recent retrenchment excerise. ↡ Advertisement
Altis2016 1st Gear February 16, 2017 Share February 16, 2017 For me, I am happy that they try their best to solve my complaints.
ConnorMcLeod 2nd Gear March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 Experience on 20k servicing @ LK. (3wks ago) Need not pay anything except tire rotation & balancing $21 & optonal item. (Cannot remember air filter or refiner @ 88) Complain: 1) Shudder @ low rpm & speed below 70km/h 2.) wind noise @ high speed 100km/h and above 3.) slight vibration @ traffic light in drive mode. As it is near to Chinese New Year, tester very busy so I did not test the car with the tester. Appt @ 9am correct car @ 4:30pm asking me to come again to change window rubber that cause the wind noise. Car no shudder but find the car super responsive. A slight touch on the ac era toe and the rpm went up with the ECON bar monitor shooting above 50%. This is very diiferent feeling from the initial 15k driving experience. Went back 2 weeks later complain: 1.) complain car super responsive and affect my FC 2.) Foul smell coming from air con after 1 week of servicing every morning. 3.) Slight vibration @ traffic light but now less often Appt @ 10:30 correct car @ 5pm. 1.) tell me computer say ok. Before, my rpm is @ .5k rpm (now aro .7-.8) . Nobody ever complain too responsive. 2.) Say foul smell due to air freshener. They put a heavy duty ionizer and ventilate the car. Car now feel the way just like I first collect the car in every aspect. Still got new car smell some more. Btw LK & Ubi, In my opinion, feel that LK counter staff that serve me is much better. Car wash equally bad but car vacuum LK good. Is your shudder issue solved completely now? I hv shudder problem n complained to Ubi during 5k km svc. The mechanic claim normal (prrsonally i saw he jiggling the steering wheel of test drive car to match the shakes on my car n his hand movenent is clear). My car idljng rpm also around 0.7 0.8k rpm. Notice on my friends vios also suffers from shudder at below 70km/hr. Signature of toyota gb?

They tune my rpm @ idling to .9k (when idling it is normal rpm fluctuate) BM told me the standard rpm is btw .7k to .9k @ idling. After driving on this setting for 2 weeks, find that shudder and vibration no more. The rpm will always fluctuate btw .7k to .9k. However, the car is relatively more responsive and my FC suffer a lot. Went back to complain about and my they tune my car back. @ idling, rpm fluctuate btw .6k to .7k rpm. Very Slight Shudder and intermittent slight vibration @ idling. Fuel consumption still bad aro 13.5km/l on my normal route for 2 weeks. Just switch from Esso 95 to Caltex 95 last Wednesday. The car's slight shuddering disappear. Idling slight vibration is still there. Fuel consumption looks on the way to 15km/l based on my experience. From my observation, if the car rpm is always maintaine @ .7k and above, idling vibration will disappear. I also think that if the rpm is kept constantly above .7k rpm @ idling, there is no shuddering.

Then i switched to spc95 shuddering and the strong acceleration from stand still. It seems the fc is not as good ( per trip was like 16km/l before i do merry go round in mcsp) After a few tanks then in Jan17 i started with caltex95. I cant be sure if acceleration is strong as esso95 but i know the shuddering is still low. Per trip fc can be as high as over 20km/l before entering mcsp. Since my idling is in the same range as yours, n i still sense shuddering, i suppose the cause of mine is different to your case. Will arrange service at LK next and ask them to check. Btw there is a strange pull n release feel while at about 60km/hr. At higher speed the drive is very smooth. So i always wonder if it has something to do with how the vvti works ( i imagine is it like switching between two n four cylinders

I was actually pleasantly surprised about Caltex 95. I do experience pull & release. For my case, it is always tie to the shuddering. Strong shuddering strong P&R. Low shuddering occasionally P&R. No shuddering seldom P&R. My P&R Also seem to occur below 60-70km/h. When u see a built up of traffic ahead and u let the car cruise. Realizing the speed is too fast, lightly tap on the brake with car slowing . Then the ahead traffic suddenly clear up and u gently step on accelerator, P& R effect come. I am not really sure this is Normal as I always assume this is related to the shudder.
Altis2016 1st Gear March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 One more thing. It seems that the air pump at some petrol kiosk not really accurate. So now I on 36psi & 35psi.. it seems to be more consistent in drive experience.

I always used Esso95 than eventually Spc95 for the credit card discount with my old car (~9yrs old). Only that Caltex comes with lower credit card discount (unless I spend 3kSGD per month with Std Charter, but I would not spend so much every month!!!!!) Your description with shudder matches with my observation exactly. In addition, sometimes just moving down slope the P&R can be felt , and I will pay more attention whether I am tapping the accelerator during this period (IIRC i had it lightly depressed throughout) Regardlng tyre pressure, this is what Ubi did for me - to reduce tyre pressure. I have the 17" rim therefore lower tyre pressure certainly helps to achieve a more comfy ride. Do you do a lot of stop-start driving? Am wonder the idling should not affect FC once moving, therefore it has to be related to long idling time (traffic light) to affect FC.

Kklee 6th Gear March 5, 2017 Author Share March 5, 2017 (edited) IMHO, for certain driving pattern, Caltex may be the way to go. 5k after service, use a bottle of fuel system cleaner like Techron Centrate or Redline SI-1. 9k close to 10k just before the next service, use another bottle of fuel system cleaner. Every 3rd service, use TRD engine oil. Edited March 5, 2017 by Kklee
Altis2016 1st Gear March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 My routine route does not have a lot of start stop. However recent traffic conditions has worsen a lot. I think as long as u move off from stationary very often, yr FC is going to be affect. I look @ my Econ bar when I drive. The bar constantly shoot above the 50%. Altis2016 1st Gear March 6, 2017 Share March 6, 2017 I always keep a safe distance between myself and the car in front of me....for ppl who tailgate me.....dun really care unless the traffic is clear, then i will move to the second lane and let them pass me. life is too short to play a fool. Agree. I also do that now. I am just surprise that my driving style can change so drastically as I age. ↡ Advertisement
