Kklee 6th Gear June 4, 2017 Author Share June 4, 2017 What the difference between elegance and standard model? I think if you drive your car slowly. What kind of Tyre also don't make much of a difference. I got a friend who always Harp on importance of a wet weather Tyre. He may not be wrong and may be he has bad experience with normal Tyre. I think with his constant driving of higher speed, he needs it more. Unless you're dead slow. If the tyre got no grip, over metal grille, ABS will kick in or drive over the markings on the road, also will lose traction.
Jesuslovesme Clutched June 6, 2017 Share June 6, 2017 I personally find the stock tyres are quite noisy. That's the first item that goes out of the car 1 week after u got it. I have been using Michelin XM 2 tyres and it is really a world difference in performance and road noise. Anyone change tyres? Feedback? Why not just install sound proofing the your fenders? Is it not worth it?

I came from a noisy car so I still "hear" improvement.

Springf 1st Gear July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 Anyone recently collected Altis tried to link locking unlocking door to P? Seems I can't make it work. The default seems have speed linked locking already, so every time when stop need to manually unlock update on this issue. when i sent the car for first 1k servicing, i asked the service engineer about this issue. on the spot, he says, let me do it for you now..... and ... failed... he then said, some HU may have problem, need to connect to computer to set. so he said will set later using computer after servicing. After 3 hours I collected my car... and unfortunately it still didn't get set (the function i requested is to unlock door after shifting to P). So when BM asked me to give some feedback on their service... i gave a very negative one... a few days later, a guy from BM Lengkee called me and saying that he would like to help on this if I pass by the service center. no need queue, just find him. I said it is too troublesome to go to leng kee just for this. He then said please try this: enter the car, with all doors closed. press start twice without stepping on the brake. press unlock button for exactly 5s and then release you will hear door lock and unlock. magically, this time succeeded! I don't know why, I remember I tried this before (press for exactly 5s), but it didn't work... this time worked..
Altis2016 1st Gear July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 I remembered when I try this first time a year ago for 15 mins and it does not work. After 1 week, try again and it works. Till now also dont know why.

Springf 1st Gear July 21, 2017 Share July 21, 2017 recently I tested the speedometer using my phone GPS. it roughly about 5km/h faster. i.e. when it displays 70km/h, my GPS shows 65km/h. this leads me to another question, since it show more km travelled per hour, would that inflate the fuel consumption as well? i.e the trip meter shows you have travelled 70km, but actually since the speed measurement is wrong, you have actually only travelled 65km. hence, the fuel calculation is wrong (less fuel consumed shown as compared to actual) note this will both affect the manual calculation and the trip computer calculation as they both depending on how many km travelled (which could be inflated due to the speedometer error)

Let's assume that :- Speedometer and odometer uses the same sensor. Odo counts the number of tyre rotation based on an assume tyre size. . Speedo does the same but the results is translated via the analog meter which needs to be calibrated in order to be accurate. It must be calibrated to show higher but not lower than actual. Based on the assumed, the results from the odo is independent of the speedo. If the is an accuracy issue with the sensor, it will affect both the odo and speedo. IIRC, the average difference over a few tanks between the dash FC and calculated FC ( trip meter / litres ) is about 0.5 km/L. I would say GPS is more accurate than speedometer. On my previous car, the higher the speed, the larger the difference. Some folks can claim they travel 180km/L but the actual speed according to GPS may be far from that.
ConnorMcLeod 2nd Gear July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 did you change your tyre ? I heard a few times this observation (diff brands) so it is not uncommon. It would be safer than under estimating the speed. Technically it is straightforward to calibrate based on recommended tyre size etc for different variant. Maybe to give driver a sense of (higher) speed hence slow down? I don't know and I don't really care to this level of accuracy. recently I tested the speedometer using my phone GPS. it roughly about 5km/h faster. i.e. when it displays 70km/h, my GPS shows 65km/h. this leads me to another question, since it show more km travelled per hour, would that inflate the fuel consumption as well? i.e the trip meter shows you have travelled 70km, but actually since the speed measurement is wrong, you have actually only travelled 65km. hence, the fuel calculation is wrong (less fuel consumed shown as compared to actual) note this will both affect the manual calculation and the trip computer calculation as they both depending on how many km travelled (which could be inflated due to the speedometer error)
ConnorMcLeod 2nd Gear August 5, 2017 Share August 5, 2017 Prevention is better than cure, pour caltex techron concentrate every 5k to maintain ur engine. :) Did two 'good' things for my car this week. Techron Concentrate . Seems immediate smoother when driving from petrol station to home. Placebo effect? Put "Big D" sound proofing seal on all four doors + pillar between front and rear doors. While the seal is working, now it is clear the noise "leaks" I wanted to block is not front the pillar mentioned but mostly from the glass window. Nothing I can do I suppose (cannot change the glass, right!?). Anyone did wheel arch sound proof , how much it cost and where?
