Is it this one   http://www.toyota.com.sg/my-toyota/servicing/air-care  ?

Got do engine flush ?

Yes and it cost $98. They say they recommend every 30K servicing but from yr link it say 20K. For me, the stench came @ 20K.

I did not do engine flush this round. I did it @ 20K when I find my car not so smooth. Find it has little effect. @30Kdo did not do. I find the use addictive give me better results.

BM offered the so call BMS value BUY 4. Engine flushing I think is one of them. Cant remember  the other 3.

I went on oversea trip when the car mileage is @39500. When I came back, the car feel super smooth. After a week, it went back to condition before I left Singapore. My wife use the car in my absence and she normally do aro 40km a day 50Highway /50 city. Her Fc is aro 13.8 when I take over the car @ 200km travel for this tank. At the end of this tank, the FC is 15.1.

This incident actually make me think whether certain driving habits of mine may be bad  for the smoothnesss of the car.

Maybe you can try two times @ 20k and see if that helps.  Have you changed the aircon filter?

I tend not get the BM Value Buy because I do not believe in engine flushing and engine protector.

If I want the engine to be cleaned,  I would upgrade to the TRD Sport Engine Oil package.

If I need an engine protector,  does it mean that the engine oil used by BM is not good enough?

The Toyota Air Care is endorsed by Toyota.

The TRD is the sporting arm of Toyota.

I don't know how to make out the BM Value Buy.

Driving habits relating to drive-ability is always an interesting topic.

That few times I didn't go easy on the throttle,  the smoothness improves... at the expense of FC !

Maybe you can share your style vs your wife for discussion here - we could all learn something.

As I recalled, I change both the air & Aircon filter as they returned the change parts which is still in the car. It is prefectly Ok before the change. As such, I suspect that the smell comes from the filter and thought it will go awayafter sometimes. However the smell countinue to be there until 40K. It just get milder.

The air clean that I did is really not conclusive that it get rid of the smell. But it do act a nice smell to the car.

I tends to agree with you on the egine flush and also decide to adopt your approach in this.

Come to think about it, I have nvr sit in the car driven by my wife. She say I nag at her too much. By the way, she scratch my rim on the kerb while I am away. :omg:

My 8 years old son does comment that she drive faster than me in city. I suspect that it is because I hardly move beyond 1.5K rpm while in 1st gear.

If we use Cal concentrate already do we still need engine flush?

Never did aircon flush with my last car for nearly the 10years. Never had foul smell. There was a time I thought 5grrr was rotten water smell. I turned temp dial to max temp (hot) and blew for 5 mind a few times. Problem never recur.

reminds me "Italian tuning". Some believes high engine temperature will burn the carbon and other undesirable deposit  in the system, result in better engine operation.

thus on the other hand means low rev means lower engine temperature leading to possible deposit build up in the system, in turn a less smooth ride.

You just need to step on it.  I just tried just now,  seems smoother.   [laugh]

IMHO,  the best way is to use an engine oil with good cleaning properties.

The TRD's MOTUL engine oil is ester based which is such a product.

Every 20k or 30k should be good enough.

The fuel tank, fuel injector and engine are the hidden places that is difficult to clean.

While the Caltex Concentrate is suppose to take care of that,  still it is only one full tank i.e. around 600km.

An engine oil with cleaning properties probably relentless do that for at least 7000km.

But the Altis don't have the dial to set max temp ??

Italian tune-up should be high RPM.  I think the best is use Caltex Techron in fuel tank,  MOTUL as engine oil and whack the RPM high high.  [cool]

No max temp only for ours or worldwide? I cannot imagine no heated air if I drive Altos in Netherlands in winter.

Even in SGP there were times I needed bLow hot air to demist windscreen (raining). How can omit?

I think in SG.  Or maybe I cannot find?

I want the heater mode to "cleanse" the AC system.

I think the Concentrate cleanse the fuel line n valves , while the engine oil lubs n cleanse 5he other moving parts of the engiNe. Don't tHink these two will come together , else means 3ng8ne burning engine oil?

In my experience,

Techron Concentrate - Fuel tank, fuel gauge sensor, injectors and valves for PFI engine.

Engine oil with esters -  remove varnish from engine oil dip stick and engine top in additional cleaning of the hidden pars of the engine.

They may come together because the engine oil lubs the engine.

Hi Guys, after the 40K service and a change in my driving pattern (Rev the car once a week), the FC seems to be getting better. HUD units show fc 16-16.4 for the last 5 weeks. For my case, the manuel calculation is very close to car fc display .
