Hmmm... what's the difference between a C180 & CLA, I can't work out the difference... anyway Mercedes naming convention and classes of cars has always left me scratching my head.

CLA is based on MFA platform which is a Front wheel drive platform. It is use for A, B, GLA, CLA class. The MFA platform also used by Infinity Q30. Hence all are front wheel drive similiar to the Audi's.

C class is based on the MRA platform which is a rear wheel drive platform. It is a much bigger car. Thanks.

C-class is Compact Class built on Merc MRA (modular rear-wheel-drive architecture). It is a member of the core Mercedes lineup. Owning one allows you to broadcast somewhat that you have gotten somewhere liao.

CLA, standing for Coupe Light A-class, built on MFA (modular front-wheel-drive architecture), presents a more stylish coupe-like body with low swooping roofline and frameless windows. Being built on MFA it is targeted towards lower classes or junior buyers and is of a lower target level than C-class. It is more mass market vs C-class being more of compact executive. CLA is also a bit smaller.

By far, C-class is more practical and much better in every way. But also more expensive. CLA equipment levels are a bit stunted and the practicality of the car is compromised by styling and the suspension is unnecessarily firm to seem "sporty".

Bear in mind both cars are smaller than the Mondeo which is a D-segment machine

Oh... that's very informative... given that the CLA is just $10K more... I can see that many Singaporeans will just go for it lar... face more important mah... I will go for Mondeo if I can afford it... sigh... hoping for it to drop to $120K... see whether my car expire first or the price hit my range first...

CLA200 Shooting Brake and C200 Avantgarde were actually cars on my list. To me the 2.0L Mondeo at the time was far better value.

In other news... kenna damage already :ouch-it-hurts:

What is being damaged? Four figure doesn't sound too bad... last time my dad's Kia Magentis kenna front and back, change boot and bonnet cover, the repair figure was five figures... we were horrified... the insurance claims took two years as it was a 7-car chain collision.

rear bumper. Because insurance will likely replace the entire bumper. So, part, worksmanship, painting, checking of internals like wiring and sensors.

This will easily cost 5K onwards (under insurance claims).

No doubt also because this is a still-rare and new model in the region.

My damage is slightly deformed bumper, lots of scratches and red paint marks from the other vehicle and the low lip part also seems to have been partially dislodged.

Just make sure it is indeed a new bumper they replaced for you.

Some will repair and wrap up your bumper nicely if minor damage, and pass it off as brand new. [laugh]

News is that the 2.0l will be back in April or May. For those still looking to get the Mondeo.

when shop for my new ride, I also enter Ford showroom at Alexandra.

that time I was also captivated by the smooth sleek design and posh elegant look.

interior is also very nice and futuristic look.

but I feel the boot is too deep in and difficult to get thing out.

so eventually I walk to Peugeot showroom next to it, and sign on the dotted line, as boot cabin for 308sw is the deciding factor for me to book.

I will literally tell them to keep my old bumper and show it to me

ironically, the day i went down to make the plunge for 308SW

we ended up with a Mondeo instead because 308SW no more stock. [sweatdrop]

But for the boot opening, did you look at the sedan or hatchback? The hatchback opening is enormous, bigger opening than 308SW, but 308SW has more actual cargo volume though at the expense of passenger space.
