7hm Turbocharged June 25, 2017 Share June 25, 2017 (edited) Interesting comparison: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-ford-mondeo-versus-business-car-rivals-comparison In their verdict, they declare that the Mondeo handles and rides better than the Passat B8! A big surprise to me given that the latter is riding on a newer technology platform and is lighter. Anyone went to request for software updates at RM? I've noticed that it seems there are newer, more feature-packed versions of the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) software on newer Mondeos abroad (not sure about latest local units). There's a difference in the needle appearance and a digital speedometer function! https://youtu.be/vZCPSkc2uig?t=13 There's also a external temp display added as well as other little revisions. I've also long been wondering why our traffic sign recognition functionality is not enabled, regardless of whether the system understands our signs. And really, they compare an A3 to the Mondeo? It really should be the A4 no?
7hm Turbocharged June 25, 2017 Share June 25, 2017 (edited) This is a really old article? And really, they compare an A3 to the Mondeo? It really should be the A4 no? Yeah... dated 2015. Anyway, in this case it's because it's a comparison of business fleet favorites. Cars like these are popular as company cars or lease vehicles and are usually used as mile munchers, a concept that is foreign to us. Furthermore in this comparison's case, the S60 and A3, despite being in smaller size segment, are in a relatively close price bracket. Yeah I guessed as much that the pricing was why they used the A3 and S60 which are both really tiny and cramped...
7hm Turbocharged July 25, 2017 Share July 25, 2017 Are there still Mondeo owners lurking here? I'm looking into getting some customized ("5D scanning") mats from ZMC, which will cover the entire footwell and are made of PU leather with a reservoir design. Of course, it's not very worthwhile to make only one set, so if anyone else would like to consider, I can organize a group buy.

7hm Turbocharged August 2, 2017 Share August 2, 2017 (edited) Ford Club Singapore on Facebook? I do not use facebook so while I would like to get in touch with the club, I currently lack the appropriate contact methods. New to the showroom: Panther Black specimen being done up with the original sports bodykit (front skirts, side skirts, and rear diffuser, back not installed yet at the time) and white racing stripes. They also added the revised DRL+foglamp units that are used in Europe for units without Dynamic LED headlights. The expected price right now, and price for all sorts of other original accessory components (e.g. mud guards, spoiler...) if you wish to order, are all exorbitant. Looks even more like a 5dr Mustang now Edited August 2, 2017 by 7hm

Viceroymenthol 6th Gear August 11, 2017 Share August 11, 2017 Hi guys Is it true that replacement parts for Fords cost around the same ballpark as other contis like Audi, BMW and Merc? Also, other than AD, are there any pro-Ford specialist workshops in Singapore? Thanks :)

7hm Turbocharged August 11, 2017 Share August 11, 2017 (edited) I would prefer they bring in twin-scroll 2.0T ecoboost engine, if it does not already come with it. Probably will come on the facelift Isn't this already twin scroll turbo? Apparently the 2010 2.0 EcoBoost is using a BorgWarner K03, which is not a twin-scroll. The one @Sopskysalat is referring to debuted in 2015 on the Ford Edge and has since made its way to a few other models, wow any price details? Which items' pricing are you interested in? Hi guys Is it true that replacement parts for Fords cost around the same ballpark as other contis like Audi, BMW and Merc? Also, other than AD, are there any pro-Ford specialist workshops in Singapore? Thanks :) A little lower in general I should think, but most of the cost comes from their low volume, so the AD doesn't keep much stock. A general service is more expensive than Japanese but I think is still cheaper than a no-compliments job at ABM. There are some Ford expert workshops, I believe they have been mentioned on other MCF threads, but I do not know them off the top of my head. Really love the look of the Mondeo. I think it's easily one of the best looking cars on the road. Are parts really that much more difficult to come by and more expensive than Japanese cars? You want original accessories, very expensive. Replacement parts are not "hard to come by"... the AD will get them for you no problem, but likely with some delays for non-typical components and they are certainly pricier than Japanese cars not just because of low volume but because of differences in quality and source (body parts for example come from Spain). And since the Mondeo is more continental in nature its internal architecture and electronics are more sophisticated than the most basic Japanese cars, so take that into account. However the entry price for the car itself given its features and spec is relatively low, so you may, so called, have more money for the maintenance down the line, but surely you will spend less on a Japanese car. I certainly agree with you about the Mondeo's look though. Even now I stop to appreciate its design. It has just so many little details that exceed the norms. 7hm Turbocharged August 11, 2017 Share August 11, 2017 Price details for side skirts, rear diffuser and front mud guards? Side skirts and rear diffuser individually I don't know the pricing. They are quite subtle pieces, not a very overt sport kit - frankly I think they're quite hard to notice unless you're paying attention. I'm guessing about $1.5k for side skirts and $3k for rear diffuser piece. Probably because they don't stock them normally. If you haven't seen them before here are official pictures. As for splash guards I was told something like $180 for each set. You can find third party ones for a lot less. Since we mention loving the look of the Mondeo... I'll repost here some of those I shared in a GD section thread...

Thank you all bros. SYNC 2 is the head unit/entertainment system software, I am referring to something they abbreviate as IPC (instrument panel cluster). As per the video it has a revised trip computer display and several other feature additions such as a digital speedometer display. SYNC 3 software is incompatible due to being built on Blackberry's QNX architecture and no longer displays the Powered by Microsoft badge in the fascia, I believe it runs a different hardware platform as well - in the USA there are locations that are offering a retrofit, but it is unsupported by Ford officially and I doubt RM will do it for you. I believe your servicing cost sounds quite normal for RM, that is their usual sort of charges, but considered expensive relatively
