The access cards have been upgraded to new technology, cannot be cloned by mom-and-pop stores. [lipsrsealed]

Is it? The last time I tried, Soxxi charges $50 per card and shops at Sim Lim Tower charges $30 per card.

Which makes it cheaper to just apply for the access card from the management office. [rolleyes]

I am not sure if it apply to all systems ......

There is a limited to numbers of access cards that the system can accommodate. It is not a bottomless well and the access card cannot be added if the limited is reached. That is the reason why the no. of cards have to be controlled. If the capacity needs to be added ..... there will be added cost.

If i only need 4 cards and my neighbour requested for 20 cards ... and at the end, I have to pay to add the capacity. Does not sound right, isnt it ?

I am not sure about cloning of cards and whether it will add to the load.

Just a thought but maybe she's trying to rent out her unit so she need extra access cards for the tenants?

No access card = tenants cannot get in = cannot rent = loss of money...

I think your logic is correct when we are talking about a system where the cards so called clone generates a unique ID.......otherwise I don't see why it is adding to system capacity when the records in the database are already fixed.

for instance if the database has card 1-100, it will only hit the system limit if you introduce a card# 101. even then, I believe all such systems simply don't recognise the card #101 instead of crashing? for the cloning we are talking about, I suppose it is just to make additional copies of say card # 51 . the system will still be duped into thinking the clone card bearing #51 is actually the original card bearing #51.

I don't understand........no need programming to embed the RFID of existing cards?

or you mean the tokens can do such programming for u ?

can provide the url for this ebay deal?

+1

Like gambling where a deck of cards have only four Aces. After all cards on the table are revealed, there is an extra Ace of spade. [laugh][grin]

where gambling is concerned, it can crash as it is a closed-end system and people will fight over who is the one who played punk with bogus Ace card. but where the condo access system is concerned, I believe they don't have a close-end system to tally how many folks are holding on to card # 51 and to throw up a fault or investigation trigger from there.

SINGAPORE: Permanent Resident Tang Bei, 47, was charged in court on Thursday (May 28) for voluntarily causing hurt to Mr Colvin Quek Choon Kiat on Apr 28.

A second charge of using criminal force against Quek is being taken into consideration.

In a video posted on YouTube, Tang Bei and her sister Tang Lei, both China nationals, were seen spitting and splashing green tea on Mr Quek before hitting him over an access card issue at the management office of Simei Green condominium.

The prosecution, led by ASP Daryl Poon, accused Tang Bei of hitting Quek on his face and arms with her hands, causing bruises and abrasions over Quek's right forehead.

Her sister, Tang Lei, was previously charged on May 15 with similar charges of voluntarily causing hurt and using criminal force against a person. The case has been adjourned for a pre-trial conference on Jun 3.

Bail is set at S$10,000 with one surety who has to be a Singapore bailor. Tang Bei's passport has been impounded and she has been instructed by District Judge Ronald Gwee not to be in contact with Quek. This were the same bail conditions set for her sister.

If convicted of voluntarily causing hurt, Tang Bei faces up to 2 years' jail, or a fine of up to S$5,000, or both. If convicted of using criminal force against any person if the accused did not face "grave and sudden provocation given by that person", the accused faces up to 3 months' jail, or a fine of up to S$500, or both.
