I'm thinking of getting... but I'm not sure if I really need it. I had a flat recently... completely flat... a penknife blade section wedged into one of the tire grooves and completely pierced the tire wall and the next morning I moved out without realizing it at all until I noticed the rolling motion of the car as I approached the car park ramp felt strange and decided to get out to take a look. Thankful the tire could saved.

But whether this TPMS could have told me or not I don't know... or saved me a lot of grief on the morning the tire went flat I don't know... I had to pay $30 for roadside assistance to remove the wheel cos it was so tight I couldn't unlock the nuts... so while technically I would know my tire was deflating, I would probably still not be able to replace the tire with my spare myself...

It's good to have. Sometimes, a tyre with a small nail will result in slow leaks. When you see one of the tyre pressure being significantly lower, you'll know there's a problem. It can prevent blowouts.

Or during normal peacetime, you will know when is the right time to go pump your tyres.

At $240, it's really a good thing to have. Even if you're gonna use for a year, it's less than $1 per day.

Couldn't agree more (and would praise if I could).

Slow leaks can be saved. Rush to petrol station, pump air, then chiong to tyre shop. Or if you already have a tyre pump, immediately top up before rushing to tyre shop.

Though I admit that I mainly use it during peacetime to ensure I'm running absolutely optimal tyre pressure, cuz I've always been ngiao that way, lol.

105k is a steal.

Considering that a colleague bought a sylphy last year at 109k

Nissan Sylphy at same price as Forester NA?? I would feel so depressing if I bought the Sylphy... made in Thailand right?

But with the special locking nut to prevent people from stealing the sensors, is it very troublesome to pump up the tires?

This only applies to external TPMS. Then again, during the few months I owned external TPMS, I never locked my sensors once and they didn't get stolen. Heng suay. Ymmv.

Only did my roof. Whole car will cost more than $2K. And will take 2 days. The rest of the stuff best you go ask the shop. The one I went to uses 3M wrap..

Thanks bro. I will check that out.

Best way to know is to check your VIN no when your car comes..

Bro, how do we differentiate with VIN?

Yea I asked my SE about this also and was abit disappointed when she told me that it doesn't come with auto lock. My old mazda 3 2010 also have this feature. However, there is an option where you can top up to have the auto lock installed. But I didnt ask properly whether it's "driving off" auto lock or "engine power down and walk away" auto lock. Any bros out there can confirm or verify this?

But I would suggest you to do it with MI cuz this type of thing touches the electrical. If you were to do it outside they might void warranty if anything happens. Basically whatever you wanna upgrade, if MI has it, just go along with them even if it costs slightly more than marketprice. Anything happens, you can always blame MI. Unless you have a trusted workshop outside that can settle everything for you that MI voids the warranty for.

I dont think money for things like this should be an issue for consideration, because at the end of the day, you are buying a car, one of the most expensive transportation modes in the world. This type of accessories are not like solar film all those where you can choose what type of film you want. Unless MI quotes you "robbery" prices (i.e. MI quote $1k, but outside workshop quote $300 for the same thing), if not, easier to just stick with them.

Owning a car in singapore, we are quite used to getting robbed. :D

I think you hit the nail on the head. Will only go back to them to do it if it cost slightly more, and you're concern about warranty. Just saying that the delta in money does not actually buy you much in terms of the type of modules they use.

There are aftermarket alarm system can do both the "driving off" auto lock and "walk away" auto-lock. Individually, former is cheaper (sub $100) and the latter is in the range of $2-300. The version provided by MI is most likely the aftermarket solution (think taobao and generic alarm system). For e.g. the auto-fold module they provide is a generic brand add-on. If it's not from subaru directly, don't have your expectations too high. The mazda version is a integrated solution and being from OEM, it's definitely more refined and results in a much better user experience.
