" engine had a defect common to all vehicles like it, and that the defect caused gasoline to enter into the engine fluid, thereby damaging the engine and causing the vehicle to not perform as advertised, and fail prematurely."

Looks like the 1.5 Turbo engine probably won't last 10 years.

The other side of the coin.

- The issues (seem) to be cause by the engine not being able to run hot enough to "reuse" the petrol in the engine oil.

- Given that our cars are HOT even when parking due where we are on earth.... so the oil dilution will be reduced

- It is also known that  heat is also affect the engine longevity ,so  given that the new engine is so efficient, it will prolong longevity of the engine esp in a Hot environment like Singapore

Also, maybe its my "already own liao what to do" thinking

From what I understand, for small petrol turbos, because they run so hot, to prevent premature detonation of the air-fuel mixture, petrol is sprayed in to cool the combustion chamber in between cycles... it was common place for European designed engines, and this led to very poor emissions - mainly NOx gases... which is why we are seeing fewer very small petrol engines now like the 1.0 turbos... so while he may file a class-action suit, this may simply an engine design...

How do we know if it's the 1.5 turbo or the 1.6 NA?

The Post facelifted stock 1.5T Civic FC1 has:

1) Twin Exhaust Pipes

2) Fog lamps

3) Sun Roof

4) Modulo Spoiler

5) "Turbo" below the "I-Vtec" on the rear

Understand the Pre facelifted stock 1.6NA Civic FC5 now has fog lamps already.

Supercharged

I am a Honda fan. But I think there are many other cars that gives a much better proposition at this price range.
