Which SUV would you choose for now?

They have both petrol 2.0 and diesel 2.0 CRDi.

Based on the diesel spec of 185PS @ 4000rpm and 410NM @ 1,750-2,750rpm torque, it's definitely a turbo. Nowadays no brands will produce non turbo diesel for cars anymore.

They even have a 1.6T-GDi with 7speed Double Clutch Transmission but maybe not available here.

Hahaha ... Then the Komoco lady SE that attended to me deserved to be shot. She told me normal Diesel engine only, no turbo, much noisier than the petrol version.

As I wasn't particular interested in the diesel version (low mileage driver), I also did not asked further. Now looking at the detail specs, yes you are right bro. It is a turbo diesel.

Many SE always try to smoke out. For me, I'll do some homework before visiting the showroom and when I'm there I'll indirectly test the SE, if they don't seem to know their product, I'll request another better SE or even their supervisor or manager.

Test drove ASX & Vezel

Personally don't like the i-Stop engine feature.

will go for the ASX

I-stop can be deactivated.

It depends on what are your concerns when selecting the car.

If you prefer AD: Qashqai or ASX.

If you want to pay for lower roadtax: Qashqai

If you want the best FC: Vezel

If you want LED headlights: Vezel

If you want turbo: Qashqai

If you want comfortable interior: Qashqai

Agreed

Agreed

Yes we all knew i-stop can be deactivated but isn't it a feature meant to be in the car. Whats the rational of off/on when ever you start your car?

Agreed on the irrationality of it being on defaulted. However, i have never switched it off. Its pressure-sensed, meaning that if i do not depress my brake fully, it will not be activated. Think most i-stop are like this? Which brand is activated by speed?

I also. I think interior comfort is the most immportant. I have heard the Vezel's interior is slightly noisier. Not sure about the ASX though.

Dont do this if you car gearbox is a DCT as it will wear out the clutch pad very fast.  Maybe this also has detrimental effect on CVT gearbox too.

The ASX interior is basic, but seats are comfortable and the interior noise level is low.

If you do not mind a 2L engine (Cat B COE), it is a good buy.

If money is not of any concern, personal choice will be Volvo XC60 / Porsche Macan (Conti) and Lexus NX (Jap).

But they are all out of reach!

If you're looking for a compact crossover, then you don't have many choices...

Honda Vezel / HR-V

Nissan Qashqai

Subaru XV

Mazda CX-3

Renault Kadjar

Citroen Cactus

All these are Category A cars, some NA engine and some turbo engines... they are all compromises, essentially. Think of them as just having a shell that looks like an SUV to satisfy the driver who wants to think that he is driving a SUV of some sort. The bottom line is that the equivalent sedans or hatches these are based on are simply lighter and therefore more fuel efficient. The raised platform simply adds weight and reduces fuel efficiency. This is a category for pretenders... if I may say so...

The other cars mentioned in this thread are all in Category B... you just can't compare them... different class of cars, very different quality... totally different sizes....

Hyundai Tucson

Kia Sportage

Honda CRV

Nissan X-Trail

Subaru Forester

Mazda CX-5

Mitsubishi ASX

Volvo XC60

Toyota Harrier / Lexus NX

Audi Q3/5

Ford Kuga

Feel free to add to the list... it's not comprehensive.

Depends what you want in a SUV. Clearance and AWD/4WD/4X4 for adventure ? Look fierce only ? Boot space ? Look satki ? Different criteria different choices.
