Dunno why the TS mentioned the customer was expat.

So What?

Has a rental car driver never lied to the rental car co when returning a damaged car?

Why didn't the customer purchase Insurance and excess Insurance.

You can buy worldwide accident excess insurance from many companies which are much cheaper than those you buy from the company hiring the car.

I'm appealing for witness dude.. I am trying to provide as much information as i could to seek for evidence.. It's a long term rental and the car is not return yet. They r obligated to report to us if they had an accident. They r not tourist, expat who work n live in sg.

the rental comes with ins that have an excess liability..  How would u feel when accident that doesn't caused by you and I make u pay the excess? Not happy right? It's human nature. I'm just helping my customer. ur worldwide ins thingy only applicable for tourist on holiday. annual coverage for one trip cover maximum 92days period..

Hopefully you all have reported to your insurer as 24 hours are over. Quite unlikely someone will provide a video before your insurer closes the case.

The takeaway is, I hope you have already started sending out RFQ for in-car cameras for your fleet.

Bro, it is this kind of farker that makes my blood boil. Unfortunately u got no video. The angle of the hits is important to ascertain whose fault. If the farker do not report, it is also hard to claim. Let me show u a video of my side swipe by a bus driver. Clearly in the wrong, he said that I side swiped him. The damage IMHO, was mediocre and we could have private settled for about 600-700 bucks. He claimed he has cam when I said I have everything recorded. I bought his report and he has no camera! Anyway, his was a losing case. Good luck to him. My insurer has rejected his claim.

Good morning everyone,

I doing this because I hope justice can b serve.  [:(]  I'm working in car rental and my customer is an expat.

On 09/12/2015, about 1530hr, along Ubi ave 2, right after the cross junction of Ubi ave 2 & 3. It was a 2 lane road, My customer was travelling at the right and suddenly this van GBE2550R drove past her and cut into her lane abruptly.

Due to poor judgement, the van right side rear panel n wheel area side swiped my customer's car SKF5080Z. She horned at the driver for good 5 seconds unfortunately accident still happened. The van driver drove further up the road then stop. She confront him but got a rude shock when the van driver claim she was the one that sideswiped his van. This is a 50-50% when my customer had done nothing wrong. I believe some of us here also kanna this shit b4..

He refuse to provide his ID & DL, only gave my customer a name by Anthony, worst of all gave a land line number. I hate to see this kinda shitty driver on the road, driving mindlessly and get scott-free. I hope someone saw something and come forward to me.

It's kinda suck thumb.. I am doing the best I could to help this customer..I hope miracle do happen. I feel helpless. Our BOLA rules in such a way...

If the van driver not guilty, y he refuse to exchange particulars? Not even a real name.. and only give landline number?

Actually even this is not for certain. Its only what the lady says.

I think you side swipe him. You are changing lane while crossing a traffic junction. This traffic junction is a bit tricky.

At the traffic junction outside Thomson Medical Centre, the road splits from three lanes into four lanes. The left lane splits into lane three and lane four. You were in the second lane all along Thomson Road, right lane is first lane. After crossing the traffic junction, instead of keeping to the second lane, you went into the third lane. Thus side swiping the bus.

I stay nearby and familiar with the lane markings there. View it at google maps street view.

Yup. This place is very confusing. I drove there alot when my wife was pregnant. I think the lane the bus is in splits into two lanes at the junction. So if I am not wrong, the bus is in the correct lane. But it is too confusing already. Many people don't know. Even the BMW in front also cuts into the bus's lane.

You can see the google maps pic above. The bus is in the second lane from the left. He was going into the correct lane.

Adrian and Nzy, no problem. U guys are entitled to your views, same for me and the bus driver. At the end of the day, I have reported to TP, who said bus was at fault. My lawyers have looked at it and said the same. Same for my insurer. That, to me, is the winner of the day. Peace.

This case is 50/50 chance- not necessary you will win 100%. This bus company is a big company in Tuas- with full time in house lawyer to handle your case.

They will fight your case- as it is arguable you swipe him as you really keep too much on your left. And it is a merging lane. It is better to settle privately- lawyer dont care who win or lose only collect fee from client.

Not saying you are wrong. Just curious cuz I use this junction often and it isn't very clear to me also. If I had been there, I would have traveled the same way as the bus. If that is the wrong way, I definitely do not want to continue doing that.

The thing is there is no merging lane. That is why it is confusing. The bus's lane splits into 2 lanes just before the junction. So although the bus was in the left-most lane in the beginning of the video, when he stopped at the junction, he was actually on the second lane from the left instead. The lane that TS was in became the 3rd lane from the left at the junction. At 1.07 of the video, the altis on the left of TS's car proceeded on to the first lane after the junction. Was the altis travelling into the wrong lane?

Bro, I don't tend to use this road frequently. If I was in your shoe, as I am not familiar with the lane marking there, I may also just follow the car infront and go into the same lane. If like what Adrian and Nzy said is true, then probably the lane markings there are confusing, and I may also cross into the wrong lane.

That said, let the insurance companies and/or their lawyers fight it out. Best case is still 50/50 for you in my view.

Hmm, I thought these kind of lanes will usually have those dotted lines to show you where to go?

This road don't have. The only dotted lines is for the cars on the right turning into this road.

And to TS, you can see from this discussion. There are already various view of how an accident happened. So without a video, very hard to tell if ang mo words is correct.

Yup, only for those turning right from Balestier to Thomson. Even that, every morning, its a chaos.

Thanks dudes. Yup, let my lawyer settle.

Side swipe cases are very very challenging.. Achtung was lucky to have a camera installed.   may not get a 100% but it's at your favor. Sadly, till now no one witness my customer's case.. I have to send out emails to the company and the driver..

Seriously.. Dear all.. Install a recorder in your car.. U won't regret one.. It's like a talisman to wear off all evil on the road like tat..

After first time watch - I was on your side.

After Adrian  and Nzy commented, I went back and rewatch - and yeah, before junction you were in lane 2, after junction when the bus hit you, your car was in lane 3.

If police say "bus at fault" then I guess that's what stands, but if I were the bus driver I would feel it is a bit unfair -

road markings should be made clearer
