The smell might still be there but you do not feel it because you have  gotten use to the smell after 1 min.  Dont try to use lighter or smoke in your car until  you have it checked.

One of the many possibilities  could be a leak around the fuel pump assembly, likely under the passenger seat but i could be wrong.

Been driving a B8 since 2018 and love the drive and power. HP per dollar this is one of the best in the market.

Regarding DSG I get the concern, and I'm equally concerned about this, but as a 3yo owner, I feel some gearbox vibrations on the tail end of servicing cycle, but otherwise this should be a non issue so long as you adhere to maintenance cycles. Take note that VW maintenance cycles are 15k instead of japanese cars @ 7k.

My only concern is the battery runout. Do take note that Passat battery is mounted at the front, and heat exposure can severely shorten the battery lifespan. Have changed my battery twice in 3 years of ownership. That is the only black mark (other than a small unhappiness in paint quality) that I have of the car. For those considering, do a test drive and you'll know what I mean.

Hi all, I would like to know if anyone has done up solar tinting for their B8 Passat and the estimated cost for doing all of the windows with heat rejection film. Thanks!

I'm driving CC R line. I've read that can do VAGCOM programming for easy entry for the car seat. I.e when open driver car door, seat goes back. When ignition on, seat moves forward to your preset memory. Anyone knows who is able to do this?

Hi again, recently tried to open the bonnet of my car but found out that the gas strut was faulty as such the bonnet would not stand up. If I bring it back to VW, can I claim it under warranty?

Should be wear and tear item.. Chance is rare to claim unless you car is relatively new.

@ER-3682  Haven't opened the bonnet in months, was washing the car and decided to open it but found out the strut wasn't working. Not sure what caused it.

Hi all, just to update, went for servicing yesterday at VCS and they replaced the strut for free as it is under warranty.

@cth_ Don't think this is covered by warranty, of course you can make enough noise for them to replace it "out of goodwill"

Failing which, you can always go and buy one from AliExpress which will definitely be must cheaper that VW Distributor price. Just make sure you have the same model for your Passat B7 /B8 etc

@cth_  good to know, I had similar problem with my previous Passat and was told that it was not covered. Anyway, if the part if too expensive, you can also go Taobao or Aliexpress, plenty of passat in China
