Can feel sour grapes here.

feel bad for those who brought year. If Coe drop to 10k at year end , will feel sad.

still have a number of unused cert. I think going to drop next round

If after a so called auto show cat B didnt go up but dropped instead, compunding with more coe availabl next round, hard to believe coe will go up.

There is smth I am confused and needs enlightening.

Someone from another forum posted he got his Nissan note on first bid. Now here's the catch. His was a non guaranteed 41k Coe :s

And his se bid 53k for the Coe...

i guess u confused bcoz u mixed up coe rebate lvl n coe amt to bid.

the 41k is coe rebate lvl.

for bnb cars, agent can easily afford to bid up to ~10k above the coe rebate lvl.

this bid amt has already included in the agreed selling price but not stated anywhere of course.

it's 12k in the mentioned case which is within the norm. ;)

Someone mentioned got one time, the property market damn low & down due to over-supply.

Property agent compliant to Minister, a few months later, gov  announce they will stop land sales to developer.

After that announcement, property price shoot back up.....

Recently, Motor Dealer Association already submitted WHITE PAPER to gov about too many COE in the coming months, what do you think gov will do ?

Very much what the minister told all the developers when big developers like CDL, HL and the rest even manage to get the mass media involved in appealing to the government to lift the ABSD.

In other words, NOTHING.

Government has zero interest in changing the numbers of COE coming on stream soon out of respect for the guy who sacrifice his entire 20 years career to protect the party for something that he cannot even be blamed for, just that it happen on his watch.

That guy already said in public, "let all enjoy the COEs that is coming back first, <we> still got time to think about it".

Anyone thinks that the party is going to forget that soon?  Without him, maybe the bloodbath that the analysts/pundits think would happen would have happened.

Think this year Budget, minded will get a big jump in Budget given the security threats we are facing. To balance a bit of the books, one way is to increase or not hold back the supply of COE. Gov can't control the price of COE but they can control the Number of COES.

Dont have to feel bad for those who bought. If COE falls to less than 40k, u will see those who bought at 90k to renew coe or change ride.

Cevs rebate caused the min parf to be ridiculously low thus opportunity cost to renew coe is low.10k? Unlikely. Not in the new term. Maybe when population drop back to 4 mil.

Basically coe supply will go up accordingly. Not say dealers write in say cut coe supply means cut. those dealers who wrote in, always think at their benefit, want keep coe supply for future so that they can sell more cars and earn more money (e.g if coe is cut short suddenly, people panic n buy now=dealers earn. Then next time in future coe balance out, dealers say things like not enough supply so ask consumers faster buy=dealers benefit again).

Please lorh, coe supply is all based on calculations, no.of registrations, no.of deregistrations of vehicles, vehicle growth per year etc. I believe the govt will not suddenly say cut coe supply means cut, if not confirm alot of people unhappy because the supply is supposed to increase based on the numbers n veh growth of 0.25%.. numbers are figures which talks, and states out the fact. I trust the govt.. :)

Well said ! Never buy car during show , use your brain la all book at one time sure go up one la.... however , CAT B will be very interesting next bidding .

Agreed, nvr buy car during show. With d increased sales volume, only way for AD is to bid higher to close d sales. If not for some, thinking tat bid price will even go down lower n opt for d non guaranteed package, d bid price may be even higher. Got to thank tis non guaranteed bidder.

Hmm... you apparently have not read these threads for the longest time.   [laugh]

Let me repeat, government has zero interest in reducing numbers of cars.  What they are going to do is reduce congestion by implementing NextGen ERP.  Then they will expand the supply of COE so that anyone who wants to buy a car can get one...

However, they will stop congestion cold by using the same technology that Uber is using to for surge charging... expect ERP for popular roads during populars hours to increase to as much as $100...

Let see if congestion will still happen.   [laugh]

On the other hand buy at Car show lower price better discount and packages + freebies , get COE at a higher tier , get car slightly faster why not .

Car may drop 5 - 10 k down the road ( 6 - 10 months ) but with a discount and COE at a higher price , get to enjoy the ride , and no more anxious wait - why not ?!

Can all those with high COEs bought during the 2012 - 2014 please all hurry and sell/scrap your cars?

We the poor buyers are counting on you'll to increase the supply of COE to beyond what's expected from the ten year supply chart.  Only with you'll selling/scrapping your existing rides, can we force the COE to a even lower quantum.   [laugh]

2 hrs to go, but bids for Cat A already exceed quota, compared to the last round when bids exceeded quota only in the last 15 mins of bidding.

My guess is Cat A $50,502. Most car distributors have increased their prices by $5 K last weekend, including the biggest player, Borneo Motors.

Already $38,001 for Cat A as at 1412hrs

Final Cat A price is $51,301.

My guess is difference of  a mere $799 or 1.5% off.

Can buy Toto  [laugh]

Allow me to share my 2 cents... coe drop to 45k and everyone rush in and coe increase. So next month coe quota increase and let's assume coe drop to 40k for the 1st feb bidding but don't you think ppl will rush in and coe increase again?? It's a cycle, we shouldn't forget that the whole nation has been waiting for this. Unlike 2007 - 2008 when coe crash, We have no idea that coe will shoot up drastically after that. Yes, i do believe coe will stable but not to that extend some of you has mention 20k.

Remember if you are waiting, so is others.
