HELP. Accident with friendly "helper" appearing

Few days back I got into an accident. Traffic jam at usual flowing road, front vehicle jam brakked, I brake in time. Vehicle from rear came crashing and drag me to hit vehicle in front. Damage to my car front and back. Friendly "helper" appear within 10 mins. Saying he can handle the case so that I don't pay a single cent. Helped my car to a Kaki Bukit workshop. Gave me a replacement car on the spot and promises one week lead time. Helped with all my incident reports and tells me that he knows what that after viewing the other party's reports, he confirms that it's third party claim. After repair he will one to one exchange my car. Sound very good service so far.

How can I ensure that this is a confirm third party claim? Because this ws is not authorized ws for my insurance. If somehow later on they say that the 3rd party claim not successful, when will I know? Any experience with this workshop? Do I need to be careful of something? Do i force them to produce something before start repair? As for insurance reports I got none so far.

But why bother in the first place?

Accident not your fault so why not go through the normal channels.

Now you add worries and insecurities on top of accident all just before CNY.

No guys... I may sound naive but I really don't know of such happenings. I genuinely thought it was a workshop person who passed by. Till I start searching into this forum. The repairs have not started, can I still pull plug out of this deal? Only reason for me to choose this workshop over the authorized was due to the lead time. Yes now I agree this is additional headache.

You mean call and tell my insurance company? Or tell the guys who bang me? They said if third party they don't care any workshop can. If claim own damage at that workshop not covered pay myself.

Call your insurer now. Stop surfing MCF. And forget what the other gang bang guys tell you before u get deeper into trouble.

My friend, you sound like you have not reported this accident to your insurer within 24 hours. That is a very serious mistake.

And yes this is obviously an insurance scam scenario. I would not let them repair your car. If 3rd party claim fails, the inflated (you read that right) repair bill is going to be charged to you.

They don't pass by but they patrol around potential accident hotspot areas and wait for accidents to happen so that they can "help". They are harmless and their main earnings is the referral fee they get for recommending you to their boss workshop.

* Note that not all workshops like to handle 3rd party insurance claim because insurance companies can be pretty slow in payout. Some will advise you to OD claim first because it is easier to claim OD.

I use them before and i was like you quite jittery about what kind of scams they will try pulling off.

In the end, nothing bad happened and their service was actually pretty good. 77

I did make sure they sign off a document stating no repair shall start without approval from the insurance surveyor just in case they anyhow repair and charge me for the unnecessary repair fees. Thankfully, I did not have to use this document.

Called insurance co. They did receive my report. If I insist I wan to withdraw the car can ws stop me?

If report received then at least you are safe regarding your insurance. Might want to take the suggestion above to make sure insurer gives the green light before proceeding on repairs.

the problem with these workshops is they mark up claims... then the rest of the car owners in SG pay for it eventually.

not to mention, it encourages the accident creators to continue in their unethical and dangerous behaviour

Next time just tell the friendly helper very friendlily that you're the boss of motor w/s or work in w/s.

What's wrong with lying especially if it is a white lie to get you out of trouble?  :D

Maybe you can tell us which WS repair your car?

I won't be 100% certain of that. Some insurers may find all sort of loopholes to siam liability. In this case, any insurer can spot the massive loophole created. Juz hope for the best.

They can't stop you. If your insurance already stated that any repair can only be done at their authorized ws, then beta take your car out.

Any repair done may not be claimable since the repair was not done at their authorized ws.
