Blueray Hypersonic February 17, 2016 Share February 17, 2016 Some good advices here. Thanks all. Reason for me to consider PI is because of the car that i'm eyeing AD don't carry. Any bros able to share names of reputable PIs? Can pm me please? Thanks in advance. maybe can share they car you are looking at ? for eg, Vezel and Harrier are pretty popular so folks here should be able to share quite fast. ins1dious Turbocharged February 17, 2016 Share February 17, 2016 ok... so I got a few PM's about the name of the PI I bought my car from... so I'll just put it here and be done with it. It was Leco at Turf Club. And sorry, I don't have the SE number any more. Also, while my experience may have been largely positive, I cannot vouch for them. Firstly, do take advice/suggestions from the posters in this thread and elsewhere; 1) If buying PI, best to buy a car that has close equivalent with local AD models so as to avoid expensive/time-consuming wait for parts when repairing. 2) Best to confirm car only after seeing it in person. Not some excuse about it's on the ship, or it has to clear customs, etc. Must see the car, must confirm/take note of all options. 3) You may be paying less initially, but your resale will also be lower accordingly as second-hand buyers or AD when trading-in may not want a PI car and will bargain you down. 4) Your OMV will be lower than AD car so you will get lower PARF when scrapping... the OMV for mine is about 7k lower than similar year AD model despite mine having a higher option list 5) With conti cars especially, I feel must have substantial difference in cost between PI and AD for one to take the PI risks... like bro @Matoonia said, at least 30-50k. 6) PI warranty is with a third-party workshop. So must also see the workshop reputation also. Will be damn irritating when the w/shop runs away. Happened recently also right? Don't remember the case... something about a customer's car being stuck inside. 6) PI will not help you if there are any safety recalls or repairs that need to be made with the car. It'll be from your pocket only. Case in point, Takata airbags. In my case, I didn't have a clue about this debate between PI vs AD and just randomly confirmed the first available car with a PI without checking his reputations/serviceability etc. But... lucky that the PI/SE turned out decent (I confirmed during CNY period so including that long holiday, they bid/registered/delivered car within 3 weeks. The COE also went up - from the estimated price at that time - but my price was guaranteed 1 bid without top-up) lucky I got a decent deal - price-wise vs the AD option, lucky that my car is not a lemon, lucky I don't have any shitty recall issues like takata airbag lucky that the workshop servicing the car are somewhat ok.
Benarsenal Turbocharged February 18, 2016 Share February 18, 2016 buying used cars from those dealers have not much diff from buying from PI. But at leaSt PI offer u new car. so better buy from a reliable PI, not those turf city lot 12b type The difference is expectation ba. Used cars most are already prepared for 'buyer beware', so the expectation is lower. Buy new car most people expect things to be swee swee, properly done. car_toon Clutched February 19, 2016 Share February 19, 2016 (edited) anyone bought a new car from HTS Motor, located at Commonwealth Carmart? Can share the experience? Edited February 19, 2016 by car_toon
Atrecord Supersonic February 19, 2016 Share February 19, 2016 ok... so I got a few PM's about the name of the PI I bought my car from... so I'll just put it here and be done with it. It was Leco at Turf Club. I didn't know that Leco has a branch in turf city. Just to chip in, I bought a Wish from Leco in 06, just before CNY. I just renewed the COE. Wish was only sold by PIs then, and it was common and popular, so it was a safe choice (in terms of spares). Why we settled on Leco was because they offered one of the better packages (the best ones were either not convincing, or had bad reviews), the company has been around a long time, and the SE was a very honest guy. Wife said he was the most honest-looking SE we came across all the years we had looked for cars (we didn't buy/change cars often, but when we did, we did extensive 'shopping'). The whole purchase experience was seamless, no trouble at all. From booking, to secured COE, doing up the solar films before delivery, all ok. The one delay was with leather, but can't blame Leco. The car was delivered 3 days before CNY, and the leather installer was full, and closing for CNY break. We eventually got it done after CNY. Can't comment much about after-sales service, as there wasn't much need. Went to Leco's designated workshops during the 3 yr under warranty. No problem with the car except common wear-and-tear until maybe 6-7 yr, when we had to fix the control valve of aircon and radiator leak. Around that time was another recall (but the first time my car was affected), and it coincided with the industry downturn when even my SE left the company. After a couple of calls to Leco, they finally asked me to go to it's designated workshop to check, but said that mine was ok and didn't need replacement. Overall, i think it's a decent company. If I buy from PI again, good chance I'll go back to them still.
Ravary Neutral Newbie February 25, 2016 Author Share February 25, 2016 Thanks bros Atrecord and ins1dious for sharing their experiences. So if the car is under 3 year warranty, and during this 3 years you send the car to the PI designated workshop for servicing, you still pay fully for the servicing right? And what if during this 3 years, you went to other workshop to do servicing, does it mean the warranty will be void?

I think the workshop giving you the warranty will expect you to service with them until the period of the warranty. After which you are free to go to whoever you wish. But please note... regarding Leco... there is another member who has had a terrible experience with these same guys. So... Caveat Emptor

Titank 1st Gear March 6, 2016 Share March 6, 2016 Normally how much could we place the amount for them to bid COE? As less as possible? Seem like the big players PI would be much of a safer bet.
