Hi Rkankc,

There’s really nothing wrong with my QQ 1.2. Have been serviced regularly at TC since day 1 and even renewed my NPMP. Still have two more free services to go. The only reason I can think of is perhaps the “pickup” power which the car lags. The FC, although it’s only 1.2T, is comparable to my former Toyota Altis if not worse. Anyway, I tends to change car every 2 - 3 years.

Best to change to K&N air filter and add ethrottle for better pickup.... [smash] [smash] [smash] [smash]

Hi MH23,

I’m an old man. No problem. Sleep very little

Hi MH23,

Who can be older than me? I’m using a binocular to drive. When I’m driving, other drivers keep their distance. That could be the reason why my QQ is still so beautiful & dents free. Lol

Hi MH23,

Can let me know where to change “K&N air filter and add ethrottle” and roughly what is that damage like? I may give it a try & keep my QQ if there’s improvements in the pickup. Many thanks!!

Thanks for highlighting. Yes, I saw but then you still need some expert to fix it up. Btw, any idea will TC void the warranty with such gadgets?

Is varta silver agm the best?

Which size and model fits out 1.2t?

And the price?

varta silver dymanic agm 570 (e39). should be around 300+

if your car is still new, changing at TC might make more sense. there is a discount for the fiamm agm batteries.

Hi Guru Richard,

Iâm contemplating of selling my 3 yrs old QQ 1.2 & buying a 1-2 yrs old Forester. Saw there are quite a few on SGcarmart. Am wondering if thereâs a problem as to why Forester owners would want to sell off when the mileage is only below 20k. The brand new ones are about $20k + more. Also, is there any difference in the FC between an XT and the normal one? Hope you can enlighten before I commit. Thanks!!

Hi R1480yja,

Waah .. dun like that leh ... my forester bros will laugh at me cos I know nothing of performance mods and only on just simple gadgetries and toys.

Not sure mentioned 1-2 yr old forester being listed for sales exceptionally often but indeed 3-4 yrs old forester bros are dekitting and selling off due to previous high COE prices back then but same about other cars

Also do not know if they are fna or fxt being sold albeit likely fna since you seems to be saying that they are buying new forester which is only NA

Also it is less likely fxt owners will go to back to fna but sure there some ... I will try my best to share what I know.

FC of fxt is certainly higher at about typical 8km/l while fna is about 10km/l but the initial is turbocharged 350nm 240bhp tuned for drivers .. more so than similar Harrier turbo which I gave up and took back the deposit.

The ymmv cons to me on subaru are:

- reliability of parts .. short lived bushings, bearings etc. and known condenser failures but latter is warrantied

- ride comfort .. it rolls obviously more than qashqai and others SUVs and hence you find many more owners with anti roll bars mod with some improvement but not solved while fxt can yet also be a bit stiff with quite different suspension set up from fna .. to handle better with significantly higher power and it takes a few k to resolved.

Overall, I believe the current fna is still fine since vfm for an awd 2.0 good size SUV with better pickup compared to 1.2 qashqai except ride of the latter is very nice. But if you are a driver and ok with 8km/l, pls go for the fxt and forget about any mod since you really dun need any.

Btw, new forester or any new subarus with their safety eyesight system mean MI dun install solar front on windscreen and owners risk to claim from insurance companies .. I forgo the impreza and settled for a mazda 6 executive for my wife but yymv again.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Richard

Hi r1480yjs,

Must had been 100 bros with ethrottle in the then whatsapp qashqai group and no such warranty concern.

Btw, I have MI's included ethrottle from pivot in their previous cars .. lol !

More seiously, 1.2 qashqai need the ethrottle most and 1st thing to do other than disable its stopstart.

Cheers.

Richard

Dear all, needs advise. I owned a 2015 qashqai 1.2T, have been serving at tan Chong, just wondering is the radiator fan cover under the warranty? The fan now spoilt...aircon become hot-con when stationary.

Hai..my qashqai gearbox also repaired by tan Chong in may this yr...

Do you mind sharing what happened to your gearbox? And at what mileage it happened?

I have everything ready to drain and top up CVT fluid but lazy. Cos I read so many good things about the fluid.
