Harvest the fruit once you feel it is softened instead of waiting for it to be ripen fully.

Got my seeds from NParks yesterday, gotten lady’s finger and chinese spinach. At least different from the majority of cucumber and kailan. But I don’t like lady’s finger so will be exchanging with my friend for the cucumber seeds.

I just received cucumber and kai lan.

I'm still struggling with my other seeds. They germinate, but the seedlings didn't last long. I've thai basil, thyme, parsley, but all waiting to die. [smallcry] Thai basil looks stronger so far.

Anyway, if you have excess seeds, you can file them neatly in a unused CD storage, which is probably obsolete long ago.

How to germinate and plant them?  Please advise as I do not know what to do with the seeds.   Thank you.

I use 2 methods.

1. Just plant it in the soil and daily watering. Keep the soil moist at all times.

2. Wet a small portion of tissue and put inside a small enclosured container like those tabao chilli containers. Put the seed in the wet tissue, close the lid. Wait for a few days for the plant to grow out and can transplant into pot. Keep in dark place.

There are many methods, as explained by others.

You need to choose a seed potting medium, either peat moss, seed potting mix, cocopeat (from coconut), or vermiculite.

Prepare the medium first by wetting it, moist, not soaking wet.

For very small seeds, just spread on the surface. For bigger seeds, you can push it down a little or cover it with light medium spread.

Use some sort of clear plastic to cover it. This keeps the moisture inside. Put the container in shady area.

Once they germinate, you can wait for a few more days, before you remove the cover.

Now I stay away from peat moss, bcuz bad experience with fungus gnats. Those little flies, they come around, lay eggs on the soil/peat, and the larva destroy your seedlings. I grow them on vermiculite, with moisture cover, and they germinate quite successfully.

Or you could go hydroponics way, use rockwool or net cup with sponge, germinate them in water. Then feed them liquid nutrients.

Other suggestions would be to put the seeds in moist paper in ziplock plastic bag, or use small condiment plastic cups. Once they germinate you can carefully transplant them to a small container pot.

Used newspaper make into a small pocket using stapler. Put the young fruit in it.

For me i would simply just throw the seeds in the soil and see if anything would grow out from there? Lol.

I think that's the nature's way, the strongest and luckiest survived.

But we can probably helped it along.

Here's my greek oregano seeds (that I bought) in vermiculite. I put a plastic dome to cover it to keep the moisture.
