Saw the bus parked in front of goal post but a crane came in and lifted it away. A good sign for LFC is that we are finding ways and making improvements as and when we played teams with a bus parked in front of their of their goal post. Also saw that LFC players are growing in confidence with each match played and that is again another good sign. I remembered a team of headless chickens looking frail and worried under BR's regime not too long ago and now under JK, they look so much different. It's early days for the 2016/17 season but the early signs are indeed encouraging. Keep it up, lads.

Liverpool Made More in Transfer Sales than Any European Club this Decade

Former Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers missed out on huge opportunities to reshape and upgrade the club with the money he gained from the Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling sales. In both cases, he brought in a multitude of forwards, most of whom flopped.

In 2015, he hitched his wagon to Christian Benteke, who obviously failed, and found himself out the Anfield door; replaced by Jurgen Klopp. While Liverpool haven’t been winning much lately, they did place first in one area- transfer money gained this decade.

Acccording to CIES Football Observatory, the Reds took in an astounding €442 million from big-5 league clubs (Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France) over the period 2010-present. Half of that amount came from the sale of just three players- Suarez, Sterling and Fernando Torres. Now that’s the stat of the day right there.

Liverpool FC didn’t just edge it out for the top spot either. Anfield came in #1 with a bullet; topping Valencia by ten million Euro.

"Yes la," wrote Divock Origi in the local lingo.

Nathaniel Clyne tweeted: "Good win and looking forward to the next round."

People in Liverpool country speak just like Singapore.

Don't you think so la?

They are lazy and never run.

Liverpool Top Distance Table; United Dead Last

The numbers are backing up what has been obvious to observers of Liverpool so far this season: the Reds are tops of the distance covered table, and it’s not close. The Mirror tallied up things up (feel free to first dwell on the beginning bit in the article on how comparatively ‘lazy’ Jose Mourinho’s stumbling Manchester United have been) and concluded that Jürgen Klopp’s squad have legged it 581.6km thus far.

Relative positions in the overall league tables at this early stage could potentially provide insight into how this season might play out, as the title in part could come down to which teams are willing to run the hardest andfor the longest. And of course, it’s worth mentioning again, that as of this writing, United are still dead last in that department. Just in case anyone needed reminding.

Especially that captain ah pui  . . .    :D

Joey Barton admits disgusting attack on Alonso because Benitez cancelled LFC deal & signed Xabi instead

Joey Barton is a largely repulsive individual, who manages to offend somebody or so something nasty every time he’s offered redemption.

The 34-year-old midfielder is now at Rangers, but there was a time 12 years ago when he almost signed for Liverpool, when Gerard Houllier was in charge.

In fact, Barton actually came to Melwood to visit the Frenchman, but Liverpool sacked Houllier in summer 2004 and appointed Rafa Benitez instead.

SEE MORE:

Premier League title odds: bookmakers react seriously to Liverpool’s start…

Barton says in his new book, serialised by the Echo, that he was furious at the dream transfer breaking down – especially when Benitez chose to recruit Xabi Alonso from Spain instead in central midfield.

As a result, five years later in 2009, Barton scythed Alonso down with a horrific two-footed challenge that saw the then Newcastle midfielder red-carded and Xabi off on a stretcher. According to the book, it was premeditated and because of his anger at Liverpool never signing him. He even goes as far to say he could have had a successful midfield partnership with Steven Gerrard for club and country…

“Xabi and I had history. He blamed me for knocking him out in what he thought was a deliberate clash of heads in one of our earliest contests, and I blamed him for stealing my move to Liverpool,” Barton said.

“All that remained to be agreed with City was the fee, when Rafa Benitez took over from Gerard Houllier. I was in Dubai when I was informed that he had instead decided to sign a kid from Real Sociedad who had just broken into the Spanish national team.

“That turned out to be £10.7m well spent. Xabi is one hell of a player, whose passes have a great range and accuracy.

“Whenever we played, I sought to get the game on my terms, which were relentlessly physical.

“(In 2009) Thirteen minutes remained. Liverpool were two up, cruising and playing keep ball. The Kop conducted an incessant, infuriating chant of ‘Ole, ole, ole!’

“Xabi retained the ball near the corner flag fractionally longer than was prudent. That gave me the opportunity to fly in, and disguise my malicious intent as best as I could. Alonso milked the moment with a barrel roll. I expected a yellow and was shown a red.”

That’s despicable, and eerily similar to Roy Keane’s tale regarding Alf-Inge Haland. Thankfully, Alonso went on to prove himself as one of Europe’s greatest midfielders, while Barton has become a figure to poke fun at – in terms of his attitude and ability.

I think for lower-tier teams, parked bus approach would be a common-sense strategy against the likes of Liverpool.

Burnley did it with a 2-0 victory even with Reds dominating 80%.  I just hope:-

[1] our strikers could be more clinical in front of goal mouth; and

[2] make the opponents work harder at ours (Burnley's goal attempt conversion rate was virtually 100% ~ if you know what I mean).

Why must they park the bus against Liverpool?

Why can't they just roll over and lose like against Man City?

The Premier League season is now five games old and whilst it is too early in the season to be making assumptions about who will finish where or who the stars of the show will be come the end of the campaign, it is still interesting to see how the statistics are shaping up at this early stage of the season.

So which player in the Premier League is the passing king after five games of the season?

You might expect to see a Manchester City star heading up the list, but in fact it is Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson who tops the statistics.

Position Team Accurate Pass Appearances Mins Played

Jordan Henderson MF Liverpool 341 5 450

Idrissa Gueye MF Everton 314 5 450

Marouane Fellaini MF Man Utd 299 5 450

Fernandinho MF Man City 297 5 450

Santiago Cazorla MF Arsenal 286 5 349

The Liverpool and England midfielder, who recently scored a wondergoal against Chelsea, has made 27 more accurate passes this season then his nearest rival – who just happens to be a player from Merseyside rivals Everton in Idrissa Gana Gueye.

They are the only two players in the league to make over 300 accurate passes this season. The rest of the top five includes the much improved Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, Manchester City’s Fernandinho and Arsenal pendulum Santi Cazorla.

Good news for Ilori

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Tiago Ilori as “outstanding” and a key player in Liverpool’s Under-23s team.

The Portugese centre-back was in the development side that thrashed Tottenham 6-2 on Monday night, which came eight days after he figured in the 4-0 hammering of Leicester.

Klopp was full of praise for Ilori, 23, who has struggled to make an impact at Anfield since his £6.4million transfer from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2013.

“Tiago Ilori is an outstanding player for that level and he’s someone who is doing really well,” Klopp said on Monday, as quoted by theLiverpool Echo. “The staff are all full of praise about his attitude which is good.”

The young centre-back has made just three senior appearances and was sent out on loan on three occasions to Granada, Bordeaux and Aston Villa.

The Merseysiders were close to selling Ilori for £5million during the summer as he is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

It is said that the former Sporting player is not considered ready for Premier League football.

Ilori has a Liverpool contract that runs until the summer of 2018 but now appears set to end his three-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside

Klopps is well known for his good man-management. You need to praise your players to make them work harder and improves their skill and performances.

If the player response well enough to come into the first team, and even be a good squad player, that's good. If not, he can be sold for more money.

Praises don't cost you money [:)]

Win-win situation
