resale value is a myth, I think maybe for Toyota or BMW/Mercedes, else what resale value...

when I sold my kia rio, (SE told me, Korean car, no resale value)

when I sold my nissan latio (SE told me, latio cvt very problematic, no resale value)

when I sold my subaru legacy GT (SE told me petrol guzzler, high road tax, no resale value)

No disrespect.

The dealer will still take in a Kia. Nissan etc. He is merely trying to lowball u.

But for Peugeot , Citroen and non conventional implementation like easytronic, they will do consignment. Just to clarify I have tremendous respect for the 1.4T w 6 speed. I feel people will still buy.

For easytronic implementation, u lose the female audiences immediately. Just my view. Not to forget the easy tronic actuator issues.

Actually for my case.. my first choice is Peugeot 308sw.. just that it does not have the colour we wanted and interest rate is on the higher side.. frankly speaking.. slightly regret getting a Astra now..

Should had waited & bargain for lower interest rate... mah

But Astra did gives what you wanted right, no?

Perspective is the key bro:)

Why regret?

For me i was interested in this car as i see from website got auto parking got ACC bla bla, at this price range is super worth it.

But after knowing all these features dont have.. then wont really consider it le.

I am intrigued now to which model you would be considering given this price range? I mean if we are talking about $90k region for the 1.0T then there is only that few Japanese models.

Hmm what really interest me is those features... not the 1L engine. But thankful for those bro here who clarified.

As initially did worry about opel parts availability and cost...

Astra website in SG is generic information they pluck from Global Opel, a lot of the local dealers are prone to that.

They wholesale quote everything instead of narrowing down and excluding features that they will never bring in (unless somebody bang table and demand indent with the pocket to spare).

Then, they justify it with "model shown might include features only available in select regions" or similar language.

You can see that almost none of our dealers have websites that are truly tailored and self-designed as opposed to being cheap facsimiles of their originals.

Well I would have thought having 6 airbags, torque vectoring, departure lane warning, auto-stop function, forward collision warning, auto rain sensing, auto headlights, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Auto-dimmed rear-view mirror etc would be interesting features given a car at $90k.

Then again servicing cost is always the priority for some which given how small Opel market here locally is no wonder it creates the impression that is not reliable at all.

Additionally I find it quite amusing for some when they already put priority on resale value when they haven't even purchase the car yet. I mean are we going to buy a car with the thought to sell it or to enjoy the car? Is like saying I'm gonna buy this car but I think I won't like it in the future :D

Very True - I buy the car to enjoy it, not to sell it. So will use for at least 6-7 years. If got money, change, no money use until 9 years and 11 months....

I note that when you try to sell your car to dealer, they will find excuses to lowball you:

Example: My previous Lancer EX GT Manual 2.0, they say manual nobody wants, somemore high mileage.

My neighbour Lancer CS3 1.6 Auto after 7 years, they say mileage 130K, your CVT will go up lorry soon.... Leather seat worn out etc. etc...

all those are options that you can paid to get it.

someone posted that he paid for ventilated seats, matrix headlights etc.

I paid additional $8000 for the full option, including AGR seat, IntelliLux head light and auto parking. Please ask the SE whether AG still bring in these options. when I place order, these options were come as complete set.

Frankly speaking, AGR seat and auto parking is good and helpful, InteliLux head light only the incoming car or car infront will see the difference, I do not feel the advantage. Some model of Benz and Audi also have matrix headlights.

By the way, Opel does have ACC in Astra, but for high spec model that do not export to Singapore market.

Dear friends,

Let me share my experiences and opinion of owning a car:

  1. I bought a car do not think of selling it in short future unless unable to maintain a car(no money!) or some defects (not malfunction) I cannot accept or I can make money for selling it.
  2. I only sold my Grand Vitara 2 WD because when I bought it the COE is just $6XX (year 2009) and I sold it 3 years later at the same price, cos COE is keep increasing, so it means I have 3 years driving the solid SUV free of charge.
  3. All used car dealer will press the price for any reasons when they buy from you, no matter what brand what model. Then they sell it at least mark up $10K. This is what I experience when I help my colleagues sell their cars and selling my Vitara(dealer offering lower amount)
  4. If really necessary to sell the car, sell as direct owner will get a better deal because no need to let the dealer’s mark up. But it will be quite troublesome to do some document in LTA transaction.
  5. I was lucky that the G.Vitara was sold as direct owner since the buyer have friend working as SE in one car agent and know all the procedures.
  6. For the car features, driving in Singapore the CC is not so helpful, but the Speed Limiter is very useful, I always turn it on and set to 85km/h so I do not worry about speeding. My friend in Canada told me the CC is not many people will use cos a lot of accident is caused by using CC and the driver will so relax to fall asleep.
  7. Lane keep assist together with blind spot alert I also always keeping on so it will remind me to signal before change lane!
  8. Any Opel Astra owner aware the side mirror is a heated mirror? This also very helpful during heavy down pour, when I turn on the heated rear window, the side mirror also heated, it will demist the mirror and obtain a clearer view.
  9. There is no spare tyre, only glue and pump kit. I recommend we better buy one spare tyre and place it in the load compartment (spare tyre compartment) because if tyre puncture by nail, it will flatten slowly and can pump up, but if tyre wall was cut, the tyre will be flatten in very short period, no matter what glue or repair kit will not help! My colleague driving PI Shuttle in JB have tyre cut, luckily he bought one spare tyre from carousell and carry along.

The above are just my own opinion, please share your opinion and experience also, thanks for reading :-)

ok, I am 1 of the astra owners that do not know of this function. [:p]

I think importantly, many of the functions can be switched off if you don't want to use them.

Bro William 1997,

I did not know that there's a heated side mirrors feature on the Astra. It's a useful function and something that I have wished upon my current ride every time the side mirrors fogged up and makes it difficult for me to check via these.

Thanks for sharing.

Safe and enjoyable ride

Cheers
