i would go for the wooden style with the sofa cushion is separate individually, easy to clean/wash and make new cover to rotate every few months.

To me sleeping on a sofa with animal skin and fabric

feels totally different. If people cannot afford animal

skin and they really prefer it. They can just lie

naked on the sofa and save money.

the skill of making customised cushion size is bit lost.

My parent's sofa is this type. The last time they replaced the cushion, really come back all like blocks. The people cutting it no longer know how to do rounded edges...

My mother make noise, then they slightly improved it.

When you head down, ask to recommend the best quality leather and get them to explain the different types of leather to you, get them to show you also. This way you would buy a good quality leather sofa.

It is very value for money, rather unbelievable price, if you go to Gul circle all the stocks there are WYSIWYG. So no need to worry about waiting weeks or months and perhaps getting something different from what you see.

They are leather specialist, so can't really go wrong.

How to cut a 6" thick of high density foam? Use saw ? [sweatdrop]

many years back when I was P5, P6...... I worked for some spare cash (school recess) during school holidays

once, I worked in those upholster workshop house . . .

there must be a combinations of different sponge, foams, etc. for certain areas on a sofa,,,,,, the seat, the back, the lamda etc....

to provide that "firmness" , the heat absorbants, the sponginess etc.....

I spend my 1st week tearing the outerlayers and removing staplers from old sofa using flat screwdriver followed by plier......

there were self-sharpened knives (those used to cut breadloafs) to cut sponges

there were also machined blades used to cut the foams . . .

its actually not difficult in cutting, but beri xiong to manage the huge big foam (can be quite heavy) comes in 3x1m, 2x1m etc.

there are still a handful locally but most of them are m'sians.....

Nobody uses rattan chairs/sofas these days? There's a shop near Alexandra Village Hawker Centre still selling.

Advantage: light (if you do your own house work, you'll appreciate), durable, environmentally much friendlier.

thin heat wires is for styrofoams, not sponges or the foams for sofa !!!

rattan chairs/sofas are nice especially its not hot (after long sitting) and low maintenance . . .

but our local "designs" still beri beri out-of-trend these days, compared what's available in other countries . . .

and since our residences are not cheap these days, these old designed rattan chairs could be a bit too humble for administrating guests

(pls dun hit me with this in case some feel offended . . . )

I have to say the shop near A vill......  everytime I passed that place with my wife; I'd say..... hope its still around coz I'm definitely buying that rattan toddler sit for my grand kids . . .  the shop just feels very nostalgic in it . . .
