For all who have collected their STONIC, any good or not so good experiences with the car so far? Thks for sharing  [laugh]

I quote myself from 1 or 2 pages back  [;)]

Compared to my previous ride (2010 forte), overall feels more responsive and fun to drive.

Pro:

  • Faster pickup due to higher torque compared to old ride
  • U-turn radius seems smaller, could be placebo effect :p
  • Engine quite quiet during stop
  • The rain sensor!!!
  • Hate it or love it idle stop & go

Con:

  • Seats don't feel as comfy
  • I missed the electrochromic rear view mirror
  • Front passenger glove box is really small

Didn't use any scientific method to measure FC but used to pump every 7 days for old ride and now I pump every 9 days.

If you compare 1.0 Stonic and 1.5 Vezel. Its quite a no brainer which will be the more popular choice.

Pardon me, but what would be the no brainer more popular choice in this scenario?

to own will be a vezel, to rent for phv will be a stonic.

the high torque + dct in stonic will be awesome for singapore city driving, mindless maintenance since its under rental for phv, just whack and floor it without any fear. to be fair, stonic's drive is really fun and engaging especially in busy city roads. for highway drives, it might get a little noisy above 120kmh but how often can you hit those speeds in sg for long distance.

if i were to get one for personal usage, i will pick vezel for the bigger boot/rear space and better overall insulation as compared to stonic.

for driving feel, i will definitely go for stonic and for functional usage, i will choose vezel.

Is the noise insulation for Stonic that bad?

I know the vezel’s one is pretty bad... it’s as though the motorcycle is just beside me, even though I’m in the car.

Turbocharged

Stonic rear seats will be a challenge to sit 3 full sized adults and for airport trips, it poses another problem with its restricted luggage room.

yup it will be, in fact can't really fit 3 adults comfortably. as for luggage should be able to throw 1 or 2 full sized luggages in without any issues but nothing more than that.

its a hatchback on stilts after all and not a full size suv but for this price, we can't complain. one of the cheapest suv you can find in sg with a turbo engine.

probably similar in nature but the 3 cyl engine does give out quite a bit of roar when you rev it.

its a compromise cause the drive is definitely engaging with the dct and turbo kicking in at low rpm.

i test drove the car and kinda enjoyed the drive but not so much on the pricing and limited interior space since its a compact suv after all.

but the kona is full electric and it was due to a partnership with kmc to promote the vehicle.

being electric, the torque of kona is very high as compared to stonic, i've seen stonic/avante phv.

if i'm gonna rent a car for phv, wouldn't mind being able to rent the latest/newer cars at the same price as compared to the other models like vezel/altis/vios, kona and hybrid vehicles will probably cost a little more.
