To all those who have been tracking the COE these past few months/years, just curious to know whether you think the Sienta price (based on the data in the link above) has reached its lowest on 18 Jan 2018 when COE was $36.8K or whether you think it will fall further. Thanks!

If we import our own cars, will it be cheaper?

It is easy to calculate. Definitely cheaper but I think self import only worth the trouble for higher end cars saving tens of thousands.

Yes, the higher premium the car you import the more saving you will get. The problem with the less expenaive cars is that you wont be able to buy it at the same price as dealers do, so end up your ARF,gst, excise all add up that it becomes not worth importing it yourself.

Agree, their profit dollar is insane by any car industry standard. But SGcarmart is stupid enough to include COE, ARF etc as their cost to compute margin %. Some people disagree with my point and slammed me before. Haha.

SGcaemart should replace COE price with their COE rebate price as the cost to compute the margin. This way, ADs will be mindful of the high margin and seriously look at the COE rebate level which should reflect their forecast of their expected COE price for the next round.

AD exist to do business

rule 1 = make money

rule 2 = make money

rule 3 to 100 = make more money ... year on year there must be "growth" in top line

AD is not here to be mindful

Real margin is higher than 100% of the real car cost.

Also the current ARF setup make it hard to do self importing. It should be based on the retail price without COE instead of OMV.

Those people must be AD SE then. LoL
