I was thinking about myself actually. Target to run faster this year and was trying to shave weight to hit target. Exactly what the article talked about.

Of course I'm no where at his level but good to be aware such risks exist.

This article reminds me the demand of the elite training and the nutrition needed to sustain this sort of training. I remember reading the news some years back when that Michael Phelp eat 9000 - 12,000 calories a day during his Olympic training.

My own scsm training in 2019, always ended my run at Punggol safra with a big mac meal with max upsized Coke and free safra sundae. That one don't know how calories, but I still , I really felt burnt out when training load hit the max. Always looking for ways to recover quickly and finally got injured with shin splints.

Be careful not to lose muscle.

Don't overdo it.

Males over 40 could be putting themselves at greater risk of heart attacks and strokes by taking part in the gruelling events, say experts

Get Cardiologist to assess your risk.

It applies to all endurance sports.

I limit my participation to once a year.
Takes too much time to prepare

Actually read other studies more than just stiff arteries in this study.  Endurance athletes also found to have enlarged heart, scarring and stable plaque desposit..

To hit 150 to 300 mins of moderate exercise a week. Think i need to walk either 30 mins 5 times per week, or 60 mins 5 times per week liao. [:p] But not easy to walk 5 times per week, due to many factors, like weather, energy, busy, lazy, unwell....

Walking can't reach moderate intensity unless you do race walking..

Brisk walking also cannot?

Like that i have wasted all my energy and time spent on my walking/brisk walking liao. Could not reach moderate intensity. No wonder my fitness level is not improving. -_-

Find a nearby HDB block and walk up and down the stairs for 30 mins?
