I heard rumours that they are moving Rolex up the horological ladder, while at the same time, position Tudor where Rolex used to be. Of course, these are all hearsays. Nobody knows for sure except Rolex.

With what? Skydweller? YM2? 🤭🤭

As a Patek fan, what's your opinion on this strategy?

I think the MSRP for sport Rolex could be increased and they will still sell out like hot cakes.

Incidentally, I also heard rumours of an incoming Rolex price increase.

will they increase price, reduce production numbers and up their finishing to Patek and Lange level?

Will never buy a used watch. To me a watch carries sentimental value and I like mine unmolested by others. Bought a submariner years back and immediately write off 50% value. Just be contented with what i have. After many moons, mine will also be vintage.....in my eyes....Swee bo?

Increase price yes (probably 10 to 15%, not more), but not sure of their production numbers given the lack of published COSC numbers (there are numerous debates on whether we are facing a supply crunch or an overwhelming demand issue). Finishing-wise, I doubt will be at PP and Lange level. It will be very difficult for Rolex to do so given their large numbers to begin with, and I doubt they have the manpower for the hand-finishing on the movements.

We know they will gradually increase as they always do.

and thats their formula all these years

production numbers, i believe will also increase, only to keep pace with much heavier demand.

As with the finishing of patek dress watch level,  i really dont think so. The core of Rolex is sports and strength and durability

upping the ante with stupid complications like Skydeller and YM2 is already dumb enough but they managed to win just enough demand to swallow these.

And there is always Cellini, which i am guessing is probably the worst seller of the Rolex family

If you want to buy a vintage Rolex /Tudor, best not to get one with service dial & hands.

it kinda defeats the purpose of paying this kind of premium against a current watch.

The resale value and demand would also be pretty hardhit.

In terms of whether $9k is a good price or not, i would say it is slightly on the high side of market but this is just opinion.

i would rather spend $8k-9k on an all original peroid correct 76100 tudor lollipop with the right vintage character.

good luck in your search
