Vinceng Turbocharged April 26, 2019 Share April 26, 2019 This renewed COE 1.6l example is good value for money at $65,900 to drive for 10 more yrs https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=817758&DL=3486 COE up, but dealer revised price downwards by $6K to $59,900. Attractive price but seems like no buyers.

Vratenza Supersonic April 26, 2019 Share April 26, 2019 This who had owned the same gen mini before will not think it is a good buy. This car can only sell to those new to mini and have no idea what they are buying into. Good and bad..... Good for the dealer but bad for the potential first time mini buyer..... will leave a scary experience for the uninitiated. COE up, but dealer revised price downwards by $6K to $59,900. Vratenza Supersonic April 26, 2019 Share April 26, 2019 Had a N14 cooper S convertible. Despite the regular maintenance, I go through many engine mount change, radiator issues, interior fit and finish is crap, plastic trimming broken off, knobs turn sticky..... It was definitely a fun car to be had when everything runs well.... That's why I got back into mini with the 2.O Cooper s 5 door. Comparing both, the current gen is a much better put together car. Based on my experience, yes, I think a coe N14 will be a nightmare to own. N14 really that bad huh?

IMHO it’s a silly design. Too much stuffed into the engine bay, too much heat.
ER-3682 Supersonic April 26, 2019 Share April 26, 2019 N14 really that bad huh? I think most "N" Series BMW Engines are problematic, hoped that "B" Series Engines are better.

The N13 with rear wheel drive seems reasonably reliable. But some mention the 118 is a tad better Had a N14 cooper S convertible. Vratenza Supersonic April 27, 2019 Share April 27, 2019 This is what I found on Google search. Don't seem like there are much to update that is worth the while unless you swap the engine.... Then you might as well buy another car... The N13 with rear wheel drive seems reasonably reliable. But some mention the 118 is a tad better is there a way to update the parts to N18 and hence more reliable or just a money pit like a RX8? Jason NathanFounder #2Aug 29, 2012 This is a compilation of posts from various sources around the interwebs. N14 Engine - N14B16AC (171hp / 177 ft-lbs)Infinitely variable single VANOS (intake only) Siemens DME MED17.2 engine management N18 Engine - N18B16M0 (181hp / 191 ft-lbs)Infinitely variable double VANOS Map-controlled oil pump Variable valve timing (Valvetronic) with 3-phase servomotor and integrated eccentric shaft sensor Composite camshaft construction New piston design Siemens DME MEVD17.2.2 The PCV design is updated in the N18. Rather than an external hose on the passenger side, the vacuum line is internal to the valve cover. This is (presumably) intended to reduce propensity for effluents pooling in the intake manifold. The boost line between the valve cover and turbo intake pipe is also different but seems to be functionally equivalent. The N18 added a cosmetic cover over the front of the valve cover. The N18 adds a small heat shield over the turbo oil pipe to help mitigate any coking in the line. The turbo intake pipe in the N18 is rigid, as opposed to the flexible pipe in the N14. The noisemaker is eliminated in the N18. The N18 intake airbox base is slightly different (the JCW intake won't fit because the mounting screws don't line up). The N18 oil dipstick is different (and many would say a step backwards in usability) The Sport Button adds "pop and burble" to the exhaust ↡ Advertisement
