looking at chances created, i think hazard leaving has not too much an impact

 

for defence.... have to see how FL set up for the matches

 

i read luiz looks good because of kante... let's see how he performs at arsenal.... on the fence for this...

 

 

which made selling luiz weird.... something must have happened....

 

but respect to abra.... twice he let a stalwart leave chelsea for a rival as goodwill due to service rendered to the club

I’m on 2 minds with Luiz. He is a good player, great passer, comfortable on the ball, is a leader n has a winner’s mentality but he has never been the best of defenders. He likes to anticipate n go in early on Forwards to try n nick the ball away from them which looks great when successful but leaves him exposed when not. Some pundits say he is better as anchor man in MF rather than last man at the back.

 

Any CB would welcome a DM like Kante but I won’t say he looks good cos of Kante as last season Kante didn’t play as a DM at all. Luiz may come good at Arsenal cos sometimes playing in a new team gives u the push needed to justify why the club has signed u so I think he will do ok, can’t be worse than what u have now for sure.

 

Yes Roman has been fair to players who have served Chelsea well so credit to him for doing so. He has been a player’s n fans’ dream owner for sure

I am not putting my money on Lampard becoming successful - so early in his managerial career.

 

Apart from Zidane, whom i suspect is going to run out of luck this season, and Pep, who has been lucky to manage all the top teams, i don't remember any manager who has quickly turned from player to a successful manager.

 

Somemore British managers have not been very successful for a while already in EPL, after SAF retirement.

 

They need some hard knocks gaining much-needed experience, before they're ready for these tough challenges.

I also feel the Chelsea job came too early for Lampard cos it’s a hot seat for sure n he may not hv the experience n guile needed which can only be achieved thru years of Mgmt but he has decided to take the dive. The one plus thing for him is that being Chelsea legend, he might be given more time than normal to prove himself n also with the transfer ban, Chelsea can’t attract most of the top Mgrs so barring disaster, I expect him to be around.

Carabao Cup second round draw.

The teams involved in Europe ie last season top 7 are not involved this round n will only play in third round when the join the 25 winners. The clash of this round shld be Newcastle v Leicester.

 

The 3 teams who are expected to give the top 6 a run for their money in EPL this season ie Wolves, Everton n Leicester shld in my opinion go all out for this trophy as it silverware n a guaranteed place in Europe next season but somehow this Carabao Cup has nvr been taken seriously even by non top 6 teams.

Pool beat Chelsea 5-4 on penalties (FT 2-2) to win UEFA Super Cup.

Really entertaining match with a good edge to it.

 

Mane 2 for Pool n Giroud, Jorginho for Chelsea.

Abraham missed in the shoot out.

Just to clarify, they were fined instead of a transfer ban not UCL. This is for the issue of irregularities in signing youth players. Ban was by FIFA.

 

Separately, UEFA is investigating City on FFP issues or something like that. This may lead to UCL ban.
