I had an old car. Wanted a period correct VRN. So decided to pay for one. Found a XYXY one with SC#, was older than the car but it works. Worked out cheaper then had I used the number from day one.

Paiseh, what you mean?

The plate is 30 years old. Had I bought it from day 1 and kept it till now it would have cost more. Given the number of cars I changed.

But even a 30 year old plate also must see the combination of the plate. If the number not special and nice, even 100 year old also worth nothing. 😂

If you change to a new car, you dont have to pay anything, if you change to an used car, it will be 1.3k, used to be 1k, looks like the fee has increased.

This what i remembered.. long time no play plates liao

New car, New plate = Free

New Car, Old Plate = $100 Fee

Old car, New randomly assigned Plate = $300 Fee

Old Car, Old Plate = $1300 Fee

LTA jin smart in this area oso.. they factor they will lose $1000 for the new series plate if someone retained an old plate.. so retention fee is $1300..

Any idea is this option still possible?

For example existing car bearing SJA1234B would like to have a new random assign number SNK9876L.

One Motoring didn't state this option.

Not correct. 100$ was there for ages (old plate, new car).

If you move or retain your SJA from the existing car, new plate would be assigned for sure.
