Now can consider to add UPS.  If got black out,  still got internet via wireless. 🤣
If can, post some speed test. 😊

Might as well buy 1000 wh battery to keep at home.

UPS too much trouble.

I did one earlier speed test build-into the router page, which was 80Mbps, now second one is 51Mbps. Not a speed queen, but good enough for 4K streaming.

I also configure TP-Link smart switch, and now I'll get a smart LED. I like tp-link products. Many are well built and price is reasonable.

I had trouble with a no-brand Chinese wifi smart switch, after I change the network, but tp-link TAPO switch was easy to reconfigure.

I am currently on $10 per month simba plan which comes with 3Gb autoroaming.  Can this plan be used in China? How's the data and internet connection with this plan, in China? Stable?

Do I need to upgrade to the $25/month plan for better internet connection quality, if there is a difference??

No problem using simba in china.... No need to upgrade, if u want just go for $12, more roaming data to use.

UPS more cost effective and easier to use.

Looks sufficient.  I usually use TPLINK or TAPO now.

How much does it cost?

I am looking at these.  Sleeker in design.   Of course I should be able to power it using a powerbank with pass thru - even sleeker still.

One thing I didn't pay attention to when using SIMBA is, if doesn't connect at 5G, it is mostly at 4G+, according to my Poco phone.

Now I find eight is mostly connected at 4G, only sometimes 4G+

4G+ is carrier aggregation tech, which combines multiple LTE bands for more bandwidth. In theory, it's greater than 100Mbps, while 4G is below that.

Quote

Carrier aggregation is a technology that allows multiple LTE bands to be combined to create a wider bandwidth. This results in faster data speeds. For example, a 4G+ network that uses carrier aggregation with three LTE bands could achieve a theoretical data speed of up to 300 Mbps.

If you were downloading files, even streaming, it helps with the higher speed.

Check your current telco connection for 4G.

Tapo cams work well and cheap. I have several installed.

Those TAPO in my home automation, so far so good.   Routers and powerline also related,  TPLINK.  😆
But I don't have 4G or 5G that is TPLINK yet.

From eight website, they are on 4g.. think no 5g

And finally I return StarHub fibre broadband equipment to cancel service. Kind of feeling "free" of one burden 😁

4G router works well for internet. Just need to be mindful of data usage, that's all.

On giga before changing to Eight after this trip. Dunno why this trip got minor hiccups with apac data pack.

Reached penang on Wed night with 6 pax. At the airport, Wife cannot access roaming while I could. But we needed to split up and book 2 grabs as I accidentally booked a 4 seater instead of a 6 (didn't remove the 4 seater option but I had too much luggage anyway).

But you can't double book 2 trips on one phone. Had to use my father's m1 data passport as wifi Hotspot in the end while I hold my wife's phone and my wife took mine for the first ride.

While fiddling around with her phone during the grab ride, somehow could get back 4g. Then somehow lost again when I met up with her later.

She managed to manually setup the carrier later at our accommodation.

Today at the butterfly farm. For some reason, after arrival and charging via power bank, my phone started heating up despite me killing the apps and even seem to persist after reseting? I decided to shut down for a while and started it back later after it sorta cooled down.

After that lost roaming capabilities. Despite manually selecting carriers. Maxxis digi and u mobile all tried. But just cannot connect. Eventually Tried to use my wife's phone as wifi Hotspot, but once I connected to her phone wifi Hotspot, lol her phone lost it's roaming network and I regained mine. No reason, just happened. She had to do a reboot to get back her roaming.

Pretty annoying both times.

Just back from my trip. Between me and wify, covered 3 countries. All no problems except once in a while I had no signal.

Lion King 万岁!  For only 12 dollars each month.

Me too, no problem with Simba and Eight in Europe last month and recently back from China and Msia also seamless with both carriers. Recently realised that my older Oppo hp cannot make or receive calls with Simba as it doesn't support VoLTE. However can still make calls after downloaded Simba Voice but can only receive calls from other Simba users.

I am a new Giga User. No issues in JB.
