Ok I just want to share a personal experience riding on the road, specifically on TMCR though could be on any road. Was pushing hard at about 35km/hr when my bike ran over a thin piece of metal road about 40cm long. Caught a glimpse of it but thought it looked harmless as quite thin in cross section. But immediately right after can feel my rear wheel suddenly locked up and bike skidding forward. I quickly grabbed the handle bar tightly and got ready to be thrown off the bike. Very luckily after few seconds of struggling I manage to miraculously stop the bike without any injury. Upon inspection, the rusty metal rod was lodged firmly across my rear wheel and 5 of the spokes were broken off. Cannot imagine my luck as I could have crashed onto the next lane with big lorries plying the road at that moment or brought other riders down if any is near me. And if the metal rod has been lodged in the front wheel, I would have somersaulted due to sudden wheel lock, and no joke for it to happen at 35km/hr. Took some efforts to remove the entangled metal rod and was able to continue cycling after pulling out the broken spokes. Luckily no more drama but really terrified of any debris on the road for now. But really a lucky day.

So my bro mentioned there’s a bike shop near him called RS Cycle that’s reasonable

I drive there with him and the shop front almost made me get back in the car.. they sell bikes that those MAMILs with money will buy.. I even ask timidly how much does it cost to service or clean up and it would cost about half the cost of my bike 😅

thankfully they do repairs too and they changed the inner tube plus liner for $16.10

the owner is quite alright, but I think his staff was a bit disgusted at the poor state of my bike and I guess it was like fixing a flat on a Hyundai in a Mercedes service center 😂

even his bike pump used to reinflate my tire was probably more costly than the tire 🛞

lai ni so ex now? juz get a pair of tyre levers and cheng shin lai ni and should cost less than 16 bucks.

learning to replace inner tube is one of the basic things so that you can self rescue when out.

of cos when both tyres also go flat, then it's a sign to call it a day.

Some folks just aren't built for DIY la..

I just painted one wall which was peeling, the missus walks in and "you think you're Picasso ah?" "blob here, blob there, and there's more paint on the floor..."

My car tires cost more than ten times more so $16.1 with the labor, I'm happy..

Once I had a flat whilst miles from home, and my father, God bless his soul, came to get me in the rain... I hope to share such moments with my baby in future too...
