seem like JS passed his peak already, still an amazing career for clinching the gold medal in Rio 2016. Hopefully he will prove me wrong in 2024

Dunno camera angle or what but JS looks funny in that swim.  Like injured like that

Compared to his 2016 swim, this swim pales in comparison. It's like no power, no motivation. Don't know what's the real reason.

But kudos to all our athletes representing our country. It's a lot of sweat and pain training at this high level and carrying the hopes of many.

I am surprised so many still think JS can make it.

After the last Olympics, he had never been performing well. Only busy doing advertisement only.

because "many" ppl dont follow swimming during normal days, only at olympics they get that bit of interest :yeah-im-not-drunk:

Same thoughts on his performance post 2016.

But I have to say our TT reps are resilient fighters. They fight, they win some, they lose some. Many ups and downs over the years but they still shoulder on regardless, esp the women's team. Thumbs up to them. 👍

I feel sorry for him cos this should be his last Olympic. Anyway he has done us very proud against all odds, and he should be indefinitely celebrated. I still remember those days when he woke up at 5-6am everyday to train. He is the only gold olympian among us, and deservingly so👍

yup ... once you have passed your "top form" .... you have done your best already ...

but for JS ... it is even much sweater because he defeated his idol Phelps in the final ... with 3 silvers same time :D

just like LX from China ... one shot in a lifetime ... [thumbsup]

Yep. You can have a GCB, a RR Phantom, a watchbox full of Nautilus and 20m in bank account, but nothing beats that feeling on top of the Olympic podium with Phelps next to you while singing Majulah Singapura. He beat Phelps at his pet stroke FFS!

I don’t think he has pass his prime.

Rather, he has not been competing regularly.

Unlike when he studied in US.

JS was 21 yrs old in 2016, and now 26 yrs old in 2021

i say more or less pass prime liao ...  5 years older requires at least 2x more training and effort to keep the best fit as the body age ....

phelps was 31 in 2016 ... look at phelps body and fitness and lost to JS

If he keeps on competing in US, smelly smelly Bronze this time.

26 years old still got chance.

This is his last chance.

agreed that 26 years old still can do it

what i meant was he need to throw in double the effort to maintain or upkeep the 21 years old body performance

which is very difficult ... just like how you party at 21 and how you party at 26 ... cannot all night long liao ... lol
