Actually the exit from Thomson to PIE Tuas, the two lanes should still manageable, driver can just go to the left lane first, then change to the middle or extreme right lane further down the PIE. Drivers should not simply just cut in to so many lanes from the exit into PIE, quite dangerous.

It's very hard, because

1) the two extreme left most lanes are meant for those from expressway turning out to Stevens, so rush hour especially with all the people exiting and entering at the same time it is a clusterf*ck

2) the distance from Thomson exit to Stevens entrance is very short. So you have a very limited time to cut across two lanes to get to PIE proper. If not you end up going towards Stevens exit

I find this is a common problem in most of the expressway. The distance between an exit to the next entrance is very short, always lead to clusterf*ck and jam. I avoid using this exit during peak hours. Lol. So do LTA aware of this problem? And they never do anything about it?

The ironic thing is that years before it was only one left turn lane so it was actually easier to filter out to the expressway (because you only need to change lane once). Then they decided to widen the PIE and now make it into two left turning lanes.

Really brainless design. No idea what they thinking.

That’s the problem with design constraints.

Remove this exit is the best since it is clusterf during peak hour.

This is especially so in areas with buildup.

Give more exit, ppl kpkb about bad design.

Don’t exit, ppl also kpkb about bad design.

😜

Even remove this exit, the PIE during peak hour that stretch still clusterf and jam as hell.

For the 2 exits he mentioned, I am not sure anyone else can do a better job.

CTE exit towards Bendemeer/Kallang direction: It is flanked by a school on the left and church on the right.  For better design, this exit should be removed.

PIE West bound Thomson entrance.  This exit should also be closed.  All traffic should be diverted to Whitney exit.  With Catholic JC at the end of that road, i am not sure whether the traffic can take that amount of traffic during school hours.

Closing exits just shifts the problem to another point in the network. This is not a design issue, it is a human issue. No amount of clever design can mitigate it.

With COE at $100k, our expensive but increasingly fragile cars are ill suited to handle the excessive number of road bumps on our roads, not to mention the occasional pot holes and uneven surface, how can be world number 1?  Really bo standard. 😂

Yes, it is the drivers, the roads are fine.

I can't name a single continuous stretch of road/expressway in sg that doesn't have bumpy patches, potholes or uneven textures. Maybe except certain portions of ECP, but they do that to wayang Changi Airport anyway

Compared to my recent drive up north on NS highway, where my only complaint was the rain and big trucks that suddenly changed lane.

Ridiculous article.

Sometimes I wonder if they deliberately make our roads so shitty such that it makes it so unpleasant to drive on and turns people away from driving. 🧐

Just now was driving along upper thomson rd, there are a few road patching, all patched until like small ‘hump’, driving thru them really make me headache. 😅 Even the patching is temporary, but also cannot patched until like that lo.

Even not driving but sitting in a taxi etc also can make the ride unpleasant la.
