I'd be very surprised if SG authorities will allow this to happen considering SBF is now officially escalating the matter. But as a Buddhist I'm personally neutral about this tbh.

no point if wearing proper clothes, talk soft but behind instigate and play politics

I think it's more about. If we allow this.

Then start all other join in. Like pastor Dj, bababa from all other religion. Then the authorities won't have the rights to stop it anymore even if they want to.

I would have thought Buddhist teachings are more tolerant than many other religions.... Especially those that bomb everyone else just because they can...

佛 is in the heart.. Not in the mouth.

So expected more from SBF.... (not that controversial lup sup forum hor...)

I not enough sleep, thought what this has to do with the lup sup SBF... why only in monk dressing, why no sexy nun? :D

I am generally neutral to the topic (heh there are also many "monk" & "nun" in some educational videos) but on this socially harmonize little red dot, I agree that we have to respect the view and feeling of individual / religious group.

Remember the recent sagas in Malaysia arising from socks and shoes bearing Allah wordings? If the next pop group decided to take this monk DJ as a precedent and get dressed in other religious outfit, what should we do next? This is the very reason why we cannot afford to toy with religious matters.

In MY, the discussion was because he was invited by high energy F&B establishments, that mainly served alcoholic drinks and it's for profit event where both were contrary to Buddhist practice. That's why subsequent events was cancelled.

Likely will the same reason in SG.

Unless Buddhist federation has a formal event, invited him as DJ as post event after party or carnival.  Which is very unlikely.....

And also when no serving of alcohol .... Not many will be dancing....🤣

When alcohol is served...many will be chanting aka singing...

I would have applauded SBF if it comes out to say something along the line of: " DJ "Monk" NewJeansNim is not a religious monk and is not associated with SBF in any shape and form." Period.

Recommendation to not approve or bar the performance just makes it fall in line with all the rest of the sensitive-intolerant-my-religion-is-better-than-yours reglions.

That said...I am atheist....just coming in to this thread to spend 5 min of my time😄
