How to time registration/delivery date of new car?

COE once bidded needs only be used within six months, so is it possible to request the car dealer to register the car on a specified date?

Intention is to drive current car till its final day and then take possession of the new car on the same/next day. Don’t want to be simultaneously holding on to both cars. 

Not sure if trading in works for a car left with months or weeks even.

They can register for you first then you collect the car whichever day you scrap your existing one. 

trade in definitely works. It is just an on the way by the way service they provide to close the deal.

If you have already secure coe and your new car already here, likely they would not delay the registration of your new car. But you should able to request a reasonable specified date to register your car la. Even you want to delay your new car collection after registration, think usually they would not allow to be too long, as they do not want to take responsibility when your new car is parked in their premises. Usually after registration, they want you to go collect your car as soon as possible.

$120k COE divided by 3,650 days

that's $32.8 a day

existing car bought 10 years ago, that time was $75k

the difference is $12.3 a day if you return the old car early and start driving the new car

@13177 nope, have not secured coe myself and do not plan to diy bid. 

I hope to get the new car registered and collected as close as possible to the expiry of the current car.

Also if I can request for specific date I don’t have to care about the number of bids.

Also, are there any PIs that allow for full cash payment?

I’m ok with token sum admin fee / penalty for no loan.

by extension of your logic if my old car Coe is only 100k while it is 120k currently I should be even more incentivised to change car, no? 
 

it’s a bad habit to look at costs on a daily horizon. it’s a sales tactic.

I'll try to let the sales guy know my requirements before signing the dotted line

storage is a cost to them too

my neighbour tried to achieve this "last day handover"

but his merc broke down earlier than planned and new car not arrive yet

he parked the broken merc at home for a month and towed away when the new car arrived and registered

annual depreciation is at the lowest if you drive the car until the last day

I wanted to drive my previous car to the last day too

so I started to look for a replacement when the car was 9.5 years old

since the new car's COE almost the same as the old car I was replacing

I didn't wait until the last day

took over the new car as soon as it is registered

Not easy to get the new car registered and collected as close as possible to the expiry of the current car la. Cause there are many factors beyond your control, like when your dealer can secure your coe, when the stock of the car will arrive and when the car can be register.

Alot depending on what car you are intending to buy , ready stock or indent basis and from who ? AD or PI ? 

If you dun bargain at all , willing to pay premium , am sure you want what date , AD or PI will get it done for you lo . 

can even get them to deliver to your house and help you send your old car to scrap and de register for you ...

@ER-3682 interesting that the bank actually shares that much kickback from car loan. (I’m guessing it’s 4k)
