Based on my understanding of what she wrote, she has grievances on the workload, class size, burnout and stress during her employment as a teacher.

Maybe govt can allocate more resources to help teachers with admin support or simply increasing number of educators. Singapore govt allocated 15bn budget for education in 2025, vs Mindef 23bn, MOH 21bn, MHA 9bn, MDDI 3bn, MND 9bn, MTI 7bn, MOT 15bn and a few other smaller ministries.

Can't touch MOH because my son is becoming a doctor.

The rest - I'm sure there are buffers to cut. Our military expenditure to GDP ratio is 3.3%, almost like Taiwan. Cut IB budget.

We help our own kids by helping these teachers. We must be in a dire time to see so many articles on teachers in such a short time. Whatever, I support helping our teachers no questions asked.

Teaching a class of 30/40 is no joke. Coaching a class of 20 is already raining for me. Many times, I have to ensure the class are at same level before moving forward to next topic.

this explains the massive amount of  tuition going on

Teachers too preoccupied dealing with the undisciplined monkeys in class, such that those others who want to learn are impacted in terms of time spent on the learning activities.

End up have to learn outside (at tuition).

Too much WOKE philosophy of the LEFT has invaded our teaching policy (all caps like Trump-style) [laugh]. Yes we want to be inclusive, but we really need to stream students, separate those willing and able to learn from the rest.

And then bring back old school discipline. Expel those who prove to be not serious about learning and let them be the parents' problem, not teachers.

Let teachers have the bandwidth to teach instead of dealing with all these issues.

Not sure on their school system here but under the current govt things had improved over the years in general.

They had made English a mandatory second language in its schools, with a plan to implement it across all educational levels by 2035. Even now the youngster especially in big cities do speak english and mandarin... they can specialize in mandarin as a degree wor.

The exam I was referring to is for more advanced mathematics. So it's definitely outside usual school curriculum, ie "gifted" tuition centers.

Wow...someone who found a job tough n quit

First time in history

First time?

Thought lots of people do that.

If they stress and cannot take it mentally, better quit for the sake of sanity.

But for some they will find out that financial pressure and stress can be more worse than work!
