Likely UK took them back after after their military exit SG. 

UK developed Nuclear weapon in 1952

The weapons never belonged to Singapore, they were under British control just like how there are still B61 nuclear weapons in Turkey under US control

I used to go there with my wife (gf then) to look for used phone cards (she collects phone cards) in the late 90s

still remember the unique used/old hardware smell lingering around that area

District 8 is well known for Hardware Businesses before People expand to Jurong/Tuas Area in the mid 80's....This Area make alot of People become Millionaire.

Actually not just him.

His team who supported him all had the same vision of how SG would need to do to become successful.

My parent's 1st HDB was at Kelantan Lane. I stayed there from birth to 1985. 

Been to Sungei Road quite a number of times as a primary school kid even after we moved out.

Agreed. Goh KS was the one who made the decision to go for seperation. LKY wasn't very keen (but could see why it was necessary) and Toh and Raja were against it.
