After close to 60 years in operations, started off as a Corporal mess in 1968, this old school canteen is going into history from 19 September 2026.

From the road side, it look like some abandoned zinc roof houses from the 50s, 60s, or something you can only find across the causeway.

But move closer in and you will see tables and chairs filled with people having their breakfast / lunch.

No photos of the canteen interior, out of respect for the owner, let call him Uncle Boh Geh.

There's currently only 3 stalls in operations, drink stall (by the owner), Chinese cai png and a Malay food stall.

If you are nearby, do pop in to take a look for yourself how old school is this canteen. You only have another 4 weeks to visit this live "museum" before it shuts forever.

Not just out of respect but they enforce a no-photos policy on the premises.

At least it keeps the influenzas away

In a way, its a place "close" to me.

I did my NS and ICTs in Seletar Camp. It was a place I went to when I was wearing green and also after NS obligations as well.

Anyone else did their NS at Seletar Camp?

I never know why given that there there has been press interviews and TV crews who had shot at their premise and even interviewed the owners there.

But I guess its their way of keeping the nuisance influencers away so that they can remain rustic.

Went there some time back for lunch and a lot of aviation workers was there.

This place has been an eye sore to the authorities for some time. They tried to close it 10 years ago.

Why cant the SG gov just keep some things? They are not in the way of other developments and provide a cheap place for lunch for the workers there.

For workers in that area, I believe that place has the most affordable food in the area. The rest are all atas restaurants and cafes.

They will take back the land, leave it empty for 20 years and then sell it off at a marked up price. Instant profit without doing anything.

Yes, and to parents with toddlers and babies, please leave 1) them at home or 2) let them wear a helmet or 3) dont go Woke.

The old uncle / auntie there are quite likely to pat kiddy heads when they are not busy tending the stalls

Heard of this place but never go check it out. Cause also don't know where is the exact location and also opens on weekdays until 1.30pm only. Needs to take leave to go there. Lol.
