HI.

Sorry for interrupting this tread, but i'm new to this forum and didn't know my way ard.

I got a problem with my Chevy.

This morning when i started the engine and sat in the car reading newspaper, 5 minutes later the engine died on me. I didn't even turn on the air-con, only the radio. Is this a feature of the Chevy?

Thanks for helping me here ...

Hi, how long have you taken over the Chevy? If it is Optra, then check your battery. If the indicator on top of the battery shows red, then top up battery water. You can also release the 6 nuts to check the water level. It should have some section have dried up. Let us know whether my assumption is correct. [shocked]

Mine is a Chevy Optra, just got it for 1 month ...

I was in the car reading newspaper, not waiting for it to warm up... then halfway (approximately 5 mins later) the engine died and I have to restart it again ... then i tried to simulate the same scenario for another 5 mins, but this time, nothing happens.

And i have checked the battery, everything is alright.

Hmm.. wondering why is this.

And the front seat passenger windows seems to be not properly closed, as there's this upward motion and sound whenever you press the window control from the driver sidepanel. This doesn't happens to the rest of the windows.

Any idea?

Regards

Maybe its just a one off incident .... temp spark plugs failure maybe.

If it happens often enough ... then send in immediately for a full check up

Hi

Basically a petrol engine requires 4 things to run.

Spark plug, fuel, air and lub oil.

So check these 4 things and you will get an answer.

Finding the problem is one thing.

Solving the problem will then become tricky, best left to your mechanics.

Thanks guys...

For all the info sharing here. I think I'll send it to the service centre for a full body check up ...

Anyway, mine is near the 5000KM mark soon...

Just got mine for about 6weeks and I'm already hitting the 3200+KM... Singapore roads seems to be getting a bit lengthy these days? hahaha ...

Thanks again folks ...

Hi there... Sorry to hijack your thread as I am unable to create a new one as my post counts < 25. Currently, my Aveo 1.4 is able to start up and batteries are okay. However, on 2 separate incidents, my engine rev count went below 0 and died the instance I stopped accelerating. Moreover, when I started up my engine today, the car thermometer needle was in C instead of the usual middle point. Fellow bros kindly guide me along for this problem. Thanks a lot!

my dad's previously new Aveo 1.4 manual faced the same problem as soon as it got out the showroom....car will stall suddenly when slowing to a halt or when making a turning...this is very dangerous as power steering dun work then....

brought back many times to the agent but could not rectify....their mechanic even came down to our carpark to rectify but also can't.....

finally made a big noise to the agent and they gave a courtesy car while car is in their workshop for 2 ~ 3 days.....

finally traced the fault to the MAF sensor...changed it and throughout 4 yrs....no such problem occurred......

just imagine the frustration when it is a brand new car just came out from showroom......

some new cars do have a teething problem which is not a unique incidents and even some well known brands encounter these issues.. it's normal...

As for TS, the problem will likely be a cold start engine may not have sufficient "power" to keep the car in idle for a long time. This can be many things.. engine compartment not hot enough or electrical loading ( engine fan/Radio/power window/etc). When the electrical loading of your car is more than what the engine can manage, the car "might" stall in this case.

In other times, you probably have drive off and have rev up the engine and all things will be normal by then... It could be just a spike of loading requirements during this time...

since the car is 40K++ and you just took it over a month... best to change the battery first.. this can be an early sign of a failing battery...

Yup, agreed with what some bros said, if it is only a one time off thingy, then no need to be too worried..Sometimes strange things do happen..Happen to my ride as well [:p]
