Is it possible to lower the car without having to change the suspension?

Yes, especially if your shocks are still new. But a set of matching shocks will give you car a better ride.

sachs is a whole kit >$1k. eibachs will set u back abt $400-$500. generally changing the whole spring and damper is ideal but eibachs are pretty good on it's own.

Watched Monster Garage on Discovery Channel & what the mechanic did was heat the suspension so hot & join a segment of the coil together.

 

I don't think I can cut it lah.

Technically speaking, u cannot cut the springs as the first two coils of both ends are for seating the springs.There is a tendency for the springs to dislocate and it's a disaster waiting to happen depending what speed u r driving.

It is a no-no.....U hv to get shorten springs.

The workshop will tell u its Ok cos they will get money for cutting yr springs.

I'm interested to know why as well, since I'm considering lowering springs, not the shocks as well... by changing springs, camber would be out? How does that happen?

I just found out not too long ago...by lowering the springs,the camber angle will be out & tyres will eat inwards...

Now you know! Get camber bolts to adjust camber. I believe JB tire/wheel alignment shops have them depending on the popularity of your make. Else you can get very expensive ones from K-MAC.

think Kenny of Riverview said can modify current camber...@ $180 or so...

The freaking bolts are expensive. Unless you can find those that are manufactured in Malaysia. Usually costs MYR40-80 for one. If your car has suspension systems that require both front and back, more money needed. Cars with beam axle rear suspension need only the front set.
