Test drive b4 make any decision. Then compare price, FC, etc. Anyway you need to have a car value for money, or at least no regret?

But I feel the Optra got slight better brand, I didn;t test drive Kia car, so no comment. If you wife also drive, better got auto. Have you test drive Optra sedan.

wahh, looking at sunroof and roof rail already. must seriously get a good shop to do this. making holes in the roof is not for the faint hearted. anyway, maybe b4 we talk anymore, roberto already have sunroof x2

oh come to talk about that, i haben apprecate ur rim the other day, never look at it too carefully. anyway, bulky looking car best is lots of spoke and BIG rims. But usually lots of poke also means the weight go up, unless u get cheapo taiwan rim like.

That day on adam saw a gold estate in front of me xD I thought its u, then look again, the car plate not correct. not often can see two of this car of the same color appear on 1 street. I hardly see one of other color on street even.

I don't mean right now. Got some info first on rail and Sun roof, can decide later. The car is quite Ok after service, even after switch back to #95 petrol, still respond good enough, save money, hahaha...

hehe ... noticed that i wrote that 'fate' has decided....kekekek [laugh] we bought the Cerato instead

mainly we prefer the interior of the Cerato and we did test drive both the cars that's y we felt that although nice big boot for the Optra but it was a little too long for my wife to drive ... so settled for the Kia in the end...

yupp you are right, bye liao must have no regrets as will be using the car for at least 5 or more years...enjoy your rides dudes

Went to StarAuto to test drive the Optra Estate today, following are my views..

Estate owners, feel free to comment.

1) Nice rear view, black body with chromed roof rack will look great.

2) Dash board too basic, only tones of grey used, not much triming. Steering wheel completely black, looks very boring... BTW, forgot to check whether steering wheel has finger tip controls for audio, Estate owner.. can pls advise?

3) Rear boot space super huge & flat too.. rear passenger leg room very generous.. in fact, it's one of the best i've seen among 1.6-2L car.

4) Hand brake on passenger side, maufacturer too lazy to change from the left hand drive version... but that's no big issue.

5) No revise sensor.. must ask the SE to throw in if want to buy.

6) Engine power is not fantastic, but more than enough for daily driving. Biggest problem i encounter is during first gear moving off, engine seems to vibrate quite at bit and there's some grinding sound from the engine.. Estate owners, do you have such problem also? anyway, after 1st gear, everything seems smooth and easy.

7) Gear throw is a bit long, but that's ok..

8) Braking power is good, brake pad feel firm and responsive.

9) Steering wheel is well tuned, feel just nice, not too light not too tight.

10) Steering respond is great, very stable also.

11) Air-con doesn't seems cool enough, maybe due to hot weather this afternoon.

12) Overall driving experience is very continental - firm & stable.

13) Fuel Consumption - don't know. Estate owner can advise pls..

Regarding your second point.

Take a look at some mods I did.

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/We_Are_Che...terior_P923820/

You can choose your own colour and design. Also no control for audio. If you into audio, most probably you will be changing the head unit. Pioneer has a couple of controls that can be fixed to steering wheels.

5. Reverse sensor should not be a problem to ask for.

6. Pickup is not good. But once cruising, its great. If not careful can easily go 120kph.

7. There is a short shifter available, but need to be imported from canada. We still waiting to see what happens.

13. My FC is not very good, about 10 at moment. Hope after 20k will be better.

BTW, does your Estate has that vibration and noise from the engine when moving off in first gear?

yo robo, today I just went for the recall to fit the 2nd radiator fan. U go already ? fitted up the fog lap and mud flap, the mudflap workmanship is $55, feel like slapping them. I found a generic arm rest in one of the accessories shop in queenswy that should fit most cars, but need to rape the center console by drilling some holes, U have anything lobang on this ?

hmm did not get a recall letter? When was this?

My mud flaps I fitted my last service.

These agents installation always very ex.

Regarding armrest, have not seen one I like. Actually prefer one that is attached to the seat instead of the center console. But no luck yet.

How much they charging for the center console one?

I was on an advance party :) was doing my servicing, they just tell me they have this exercise going on. Think you will receive a letter on this soon. now the radiator has 2 fan.

the arm rest is also not really any fantastic deal. today was seriously comparing the height, the cup holders quite high already, if screw one arm rest there may hinder the elbow during dear shift. As for queensway, the console itself is $60 i think. not too sure if they charge additional for workmanship.

Most probably will do the fan at my next servicing.

Another 500 km to go.

Not too keen to screw in anything on to the center console, like you said it would hinder shifting. Especially if I decide to shorten my shifter next time.

In the meantime will not be doing anything to my ride. Have to stop for a while.

Maybe will consider installing a capacitor in future.

In My search for information on the Optra 1.8l I have found that many owners

Have done software changes to get a much better fuel economy.

Found this info on http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_77469.htm

I am keen on finding out more from owners of the Optra 1.8l Sedan as I am currently

Hanging off buying waiting for the Estate to be issued with a 1.8L and a updated Interior.

Was told that the 1.8 would not be landing on our shores. There 1.8 is equipped with a different transmission as the 1.6 and the former is not known to be very efficient. Heard that there are load so complaints across the causeway because of the 1.8 tie up with the transmission.

The same here in Thailand where they are manufacturing the Optra the 1.8L

is only available in a Limited edition Sedan.

Have asked Chevrolet Thailand if they are going to release 1.8L Estate next year or if can factory fit the 1.8L to current model but they have not answered me yet.

However from what I have heard the 1.8L is not as refined engine as one might wish with Higher engine noise and not so smooth running.
