Pisces69 6th Gear March 5, 2005 Share March 5, 2005 did u ask mechanic to check on it? seriously think ur car seems unable handle the load and "died". have u adjusted the idling rpm? hihi...u noe hw to adjust the idling rpm?? ======================== If u not so familiar, better not do it yourself. Let a good mechanic do it & u watch how first. If your car constantly need to adjust the idle, something else is wrong. Best to let mech check for u, otherwise u make it worse. ↡ Advertisement
Six_ghz Neutral Newbie March 5, 2005 Share March 5, 2005 This happened to my old Austin too. The rpm would drop without warning to so low that sometimes the engine just died, together with power steering... and along the road somemore! Went to check and the verdict I got: Idling sensor kaput, carbs choked. Replaced them and it's a-ok again. Go to your mechanic and check, shouldn't be a big issue. Cheers! Mivec9 1st Gear March 5, 2005 Share March 5, 2005 sinc you have changed ur idling sensor, then another possiblity is carb. if ur current mech unable help, get 2nd opinion for the fault. i had a high temp fault and my mech unable solved and suggested a top overhaul to solve it..end of day a 2nd opinion from another mech was fault due to a motor faulty..cost less than 100 bucks versus overhaul abt 500 bucks...siao

Turbonetics 2nd Gear March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 i'm driving this ESI 92' for 2months...& for these 2 months i juz realised this... whenever i park my car under the sun when i go work...then when i go hm ard 4-5pm...i start my car...warmup bout 5min lidat...then start aircon...then go off...then when i released my accelerator & clutch in to change gear...the rpm will drop rite...it will drop drastically till whole car vibrates & will engine die... or when i at 4th gear wan to gear down...i clutch in & put to neutral...the same happens... the aircon i put to 2. sumtime when stop at traffic light the idling rpm will drop drastically too...but wum engine die off Cannot be rite...where got a car start aircon liao the rpm drop drastically one... but when at nite go out or the car park in shade...i start the car...warmup 5min lidat...on aircon & go off...change gear...or when i at 4th gear wan to gear down...i clutch in & put to neutral... the rpm drop drastically too but confirm wun die car one... after i noticed this...i did went to change the idling control sensor & service throttle body once. the mech sae if wan to prevent the vibrate need to reset ECU... pro honda bros here...pls help mi...i realli getting pissed off sumtimes wif the car... iam driving the same car as u.... i also got this problem especially when the weather is hot.... u can try on neutral n u rev,the rpm will still drop to very low til the whole car vibrate....normally when this happen, the air con wun be cold....i will switch off the aircon if this happen....rather than letting the whole car vibrate.... i din send it to check but i think its the aircon problem cos when i off the aircon,it wun happen....wonder if urs is the same....cheers.... Mivec9 1st Gear March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 how is it bro_vin?? hope u have gone to a new workshop for a check. seems like the air-con will "drain" power from car till insufficient power. could it be alternator not providing sufficient power? cos alternator maintains it power to car with alternator belt...or something related. Pisces69 6th Gear March 11, 2005 Share March 11, 2005 Ask them if the Fast Idle Control Device was faulty. I think it don't open throttle to compensate for the load when the ac cuts in. It's not a major problem & any decent mechanic can solve it for u, Unless they want to play games with u. Any good A/C workshop also can check & solve for u. Again, don't let those crooks eat your $$$ as maybe they see u young boy, issit?
Boy_vin Neutral Newbie March 12, 2005 Author Share March 12, 2005 hi all... the mech juz called up.... he say most prob the problem lies in the throttle body (spoil le will cause car to die), engine mounting(cause car to vibrate) so i ask change both...throttle body old on $100+...engine mounting new one $300+... is this price reccomended??
Saaber Neutral Newbie March 12, 2005 Share March 12, 2005 very expensive leh.... let me take a look at your car...maybe some minor tuning might solve the problem..
Mivec9 1st Gear March 12, 2005 Share March 12, 2005 no need change engine mounting. when i juz got my car, also vibrate alot. juz adjust idle higher, prob solved. save ur 300 bucks. as for throttle body...best u get 2nd opinion...no harm and u may get a better solution
Pisces69 6th Gear March 12, 2005 Share March 12, 2005 B4 u let him do, go to another good mechanic & tell him the problem, but don't tell him u see another mech & what he say. If he diagnose same exactly, then most prob that is your problem. Ask his quote & compare prices. Play abit smart, otherwise those dirty mech will suck your blood dry. ↡ Advertisement
