Does your Aveo / Optra remote keylock do this?

I went to remotely unlock my car but decided not to open the door yet as I was examining my car from the outside. A few 10+ seconds later, the car automatically locked itself, with the chirping locking sound as well! I experimented it again, and the results was the same.

It's only when I open the door and close it, it does NOT automatically lock itself.

Is this strange or do all of you have this as well?

This is the feature for my optra too. When the door is not open after you remotely un-locked the door, it will lock it back. This is to prevent the accidental unlocking the door.

Hi Brock

Its the same for me (Optra 5), this is how they have set the alarm to react at SA before one collects the car. I think they'd told me that the timing for the car to auto lock (assuming you don't opena nd close the door), can be adjusted.... [drivingcar]

Regards

It is one of the security features. My previous Nissan and current Honda have it too.

The default time is 30 seconds. If doors are no opened, it will lock back.

2 reasons :

(1) after locking, put keys in pocket, and accidentally unlock. walk away. the car will lock back.

(2) if somehow, someone else pressing their remote, can unlock your door, hopefully he will not know. He drive away, your car locks by itself.
