jg2000 4th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 i'm torn between Vezel and Subaru XV ... Both are good in different ways. Depends what you want (and what your OC or Finance Minister want). Everyone has their own personal criteria. In my case, because I wanted AD car, the choice was easier to settle with XV. The bonus of XV then was the AWD, low CG and the related driving "feel" plus a car model that is not so common on the road. ↡ Advertisement
jg2000 4th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 (edited) Why not QQ? Tbh, when i test drove xv...i straightaway striked it out. Too plasticky within, underpowered, eng cut off very jerky, fc bad and very noisy. QQ on the other hand i frel its quite a good fight in terms of the conti and solid feel. Insulation better than vezel. Responsiveness not as gd though. Those who mention XV and Vezel in same breath usually have budget that fit these 2 SUVs and they find QQ slightly out of budget. Of course, the extra few thousand plus can sometime try to justify and just say to yourself "aiyah - just add a bit more and go for the more expensive choice" (that's how some people I know go from initial budget japanese car and slowly increase and increase until become a VW or even a BMW). For the choice between XV and QQ, I know of some people who go to the joint Nissan/Subaru showroom at Leng Kee and after they see QQ in the upstairs showroom are surprised that there is such a thing as XV in the downstairs showroom and end up test drive and liking the XV and buy it instead. (Many people not really aware of Subaru brand and even less know of the XV). So, really depends on people's personal preference. XV also has a different kind of driving feel (perhaps due to its lower CG arising from its boxer engine and car crossover design, better traction with AWD, also sloping bonnet with better visbility) which some people seem to prefer. XV FC not fantastic but not terrible either - around 12 km/l. Power is adequate if you are not a racer and for Singapore, almost all cars are underpowered anyway (our 1.6L cars are usually 2L or more in US). Noisy is probably the older version you tested - the latest versions have more sound insulation. Engine cut-off seems about equal to other cars - can't tell the difference. Plasticky also sound like the older version - which was all black plain matt plastic/leather - newer one better with silver and piano black trims plus 3 full colour LCDs including that of the factory HU which has touch glass cover not just on the screen but continues across the sides to the capacitive touch HU control buttons until the edge of the console so looks very well integrated and not like those after-market units added to some other car models. jg2000 4th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 no LED .. save a couple thousand.. makes economical sense to me the Vezel is pretty but the XV is more rugged. XV's HU unit no GPS function ~ troublesome neh XV rear seats are slightly abit more spacious Both no spare tyre but XV got tyre pressure indicator Vezel's FC better Vezel maintenance is probably cheaper really torn... Actually, to use GPS in HU, I will only do so if HU is is like in new Mazda cars and most new conti cars like BMW etc where HU pops up above the dashboard. I feel safer to glance at GPS at that location as my pheripheral vision can still have some feel of the road traffic. If HU is in dashboard itself, then feel very dangerous to glance down and lose sight of the road for that few micro-seconds (or even few seconds). So even if HU in dashboard has GPS, I won't use the HU but instead, use GPS or Smartphone with GPS mounted above dash or to windscreen. Also HU GPS usually must pay to update maps and map update not so frequent - so better to use smartphone app which are free and more updated frequently. E.g. Google Maps announce they will provide offline use (so that no need to have 3G in Malaysia if you download map before hand). Above just my personal preference - others may find quite ok to use the in-dashboard HU GPS (perhaps it gives very good verbal instructions so no need to really look at it). Yes, my OC / Minister of Finance also rejected the older version of Subaru XV straight away after one look. Luckily, they changed and then got chance to get her to agree to test drive. Surprised she like the driving feel (I thought guys appreciate Subaru more). Edited November 18, 2015 by jg2000
Pss2 2nd Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 Actually this Vezel to me is just a Honda Fit trying to look like SUV if you ask me. Just a small SUV with basic features.

jg2000 4th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 Actually this Vezel to me is just a Honda Fit trying to look like SUV if you ask me. Just a small SUV with basic features. But it meets a market demand - otherwise it will not be selling so well. To me (and I suspect to those who choose to buy it), it definitely looks nicer than the Fit and seems to have a bit more space than the Fit.

Andyngps 5th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 Actually this Vezel to me is just a Honda Fit trying to look like SUV if you ask me. Just a small SUV with basic features. Lol. You should look at the current honda fit. Its even more plasticky and basic than vezel. Vezel is ok liao i feel...at least the aircon panel part is better. And comparing to other bnb models, vezel is considered ok. But really lose out to QQ in terms of built. However, the features aint really basic compared to many of this budget. Ctba, electronic brake and brake hold, eng cut off, dtrl...
zeegi 1st Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 I am very happy as my COE has been secured today, I have been reading almost 95% of all the conversation on this vezel thread from the very first post until now and it helps me to decide on this car as compare to altis and madza 3 If everything goes well, i should be getting my car next week. The whole process took only less than 3 working weeks from ordering to collecting assuming if i get my car as promised which i think should not be an issue. I am thankful to everyone that has contributed to this thread, that's why now i think i should at least writing something on my first post apart from quietly reading at the background

This is my first car, so when it comes to the fuel and sound insulation part, i cannot really appreciate that much yet. Maybe in another year time, i might become more picky to these stuffs... Hopefully singapore will be more supportive of green initiatives in future and lower the price of hybrid cars. I love hybrid car as they are really quiet and environmental friendly. So those earlier post discussing about on PI, Workshop and the review on this car helps pretty much and i know absolutely nothing about cars.
titarium 3rd Gear November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Hi bros, any major issues with Vezel cos I really see many Vezels on the road? I was thinking I should get Vezel or Mazda 3.... Please advise... Too New to Judge , on SG roads so far not much complains but prone to butt kissers , don't know why but Vezelians reported every now and then kena kiss. This model is quite a stable platform before hotly exported out, Mazda can't comment much but with a new philosophy in their engine set-up Mazda intend give a new life into the engine department ; The engine is a total new design from sketch compare to Honda which is improvise from previous engines. Drive feeling : Mazda 3 Spaciousness : Vezel Fuel efficiency : Fairly the same Features : Vezel Warranty : Mazda * Vezel gives a family orientated car , while Mazda 3 a more young generation feel
