  3. Hyundai has unveiled the HCD-14 Genesis concept at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The four-door coupe concept is a preview of the next generation Genesis and carries design elements for future Hyundai products. The concept is powered by the Korean carmaker's 5.0-litre direct-injected 'Tau' V8 with dual continuously variable valve timing. The engine is linked an 8-speed automatic transmission which delivers power to the rear wheels. "We instilled HCD-14 Genesis with a premium-sport four-door coupe road presence", said Christopher Chapman, Hyundai's Chief Designer in America. "Its sleek and lightweight silhouette does not punish the wind but used fluidic precision with dramatic surfacing that conveys natural restraint." The front end is dominated by a large grille with 4 horizontal metal bars, which can appear overbearing. The concept has a tapered boot like the Audi A7. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the HCD-14 is its rear-hinged rear doors, or commonly known as "suicide doors". Like most four-door coupes in the market, the HCD-14 strictly sits four.
  4. The 2013 Detroit Motor Show has started on a positive note for Cadillac as the ATS sedan has been named the North American Car of The Year by a jury of automotive writers. Finalists for the title include the 2013 Honda Accord and Ford Fusion sedans. "This is a very meaningful honor for the entire Cadillac team, especially the men and women who build the ATS in Lansing, Michigan, and our dedicated and talented designers and engineers," said Bob Ferguson, GM vice president, Cadillac Global. "A car like ATS is the result of incredible commitment and focus. That's the only method for creating a great performing luxury car." The Cadillac ATS is compact luxury sedan designed to take on the likes of the BMW 3-series and Audi A4. The ATS is offered with a choice of three engines, namely a 202bhp 2.5-litre, 272bhp 2.0-litre turbo and a 3.6-litre V6 with 321bhp. These engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. 5. Infiniti Canada has mistakenly posted the all-new Q50 sports sedan on its website prior to the car's world premiere at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The photos were quickly removed but unfortunately, news on the internet spreads faster than wild fire. Infiniti's upcoming sedan is targeted at the compact luxury segment currently dominated by the likes of the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. It is the replacement for the G37 sedan, which has been in production since 2007. The front of the car gets a pair of fierce-looking headlights with LED treatment. The grille, which looks like a toned down version of Lexus
  6. Set to be launched at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, Lexus has released a series of photos of the 2014 Lexus IS sports sedan showing the car's exterior and interior styling. As expected, the third generation Lexus IS exterior lines follow closely to that of the LF-CC Concept, featuring a prominent spindle grille and distinctive daylight running LED. At the back, the car sports a dual exhaust system and a pair of taillights that extends to the C pillar. Lexus has not released any official information regarding the third generation IS's drivetrains. However, the IS 250 and IS 350 are expected to be powered by the 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre V6 borrowed from its bigger brother, the GS. These engines will be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. Toyota's premium division commented that the new IS's increased width and longer wheelbase offers significantly more comfort for the rear passengers while improving luggage capacity at the same time. A statement from Mercedes reads, "Not only will we introduce the E-Class Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Cabriolet, but also the E 63 AMG model, now available in a 4MATIC version and, of course, the new four-door coupe, the CLA." 4Matic is the name of an AWD four-wheel drive system developed and used by Mercedes-Benz. Like the regular E-Class saloon, the E 63 AMG has a re-designed single headlamp unit. However, it sports a more aggressive front bumper that houses huge air intakes on both sides.

Often nicknamed as the 'baby CLS', the new model will be revealed at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The CLA will be riding on the German carmaker's all-new MFA platform, which is also adopted by the new generation of the A-Class and B-Class. The CLA will be powered by 1.8-litre and 2.1-litre diesel engines, as well as turbocharged petrol engines of 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre capacity.
