  1. If you were to get a new car, would you avoid getting it on the lunar seventh month or it doesn't matter?
  2. It seems that there are car sales everywhere.. Is it really GSS time for cars, or just gimmicks? I recently had a chat with one rep, and the rep confided, that around this time, the companies, typically the ADs, will need to rouse up sales if they have not met the annual targets. And if you get it now, from reps who have not met their annual targets, there is a bigger hunger, so they will be willing to share their commissions with you, and help you get a better price. Having been to two sales recently, I can tell you from a first person point of view that the reps are truly keen to close a deal, and if you are really keen, get that cheque book ready, there are deals to be had. For example, BMW has their 100 year sale, and one can score a BMW 116d for 123k plus a bunch of freebies. The quantum of freebies that you get will depend on your bargaining skills and which rep is more hungry. So is a senior rep better or a junior one? IMO, the latter. He / she has targets to met, and is more willing to forgo the commission in order to keep his / her job.
  3. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/samaritan-rescues-hungry-tortured-girl-wandering-streets-tears-225500696.html KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — It was a horrendous discovery — a sexually-assaulted, starving little girl tortured by unknown barbarians with pliers, spanners and screwdrivers wandering the streets alone at 3.30am crying to be fed. The extreme case of inhumane treatment inflicted on the four-year-old is a story one wishes could be unread as the parents are the key suspects. A photograph of the girl, released by city police to seek public help to track down her parents showed: Several nasty scars on her nose, forehead and lips; Old scars all over her body which a medical report suggested had been caused by abuse over at least six months. A police source said the initial medical report also showed injuries to her private parts. City police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh, in confirming the case, said they are looking for the parents fo the girl — who is now being cared for at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The Malay Mail has learnt that the girl could have been living on the streets for a few days. A police source said the girl was found wandering aimlessly along Jalan Air Jerneh in Setapak on Oct 9 before being rescued by a 41-year-old passer-by. Police said the passer-by — who was on his way home from work — told the police she cried and asked for food when he approached her. The source said: “The man told us she looked frightened, pale and weak and kept crying and asking for food. “He fed the girl before handing her over to the police. “We believe she was not dumped on the streets by her parents, but instead ran away from home as she couldn’t stand being abused.” Wah lau ae....... 4 years old....
  4. Is this the social ills we are facing due to the inflation? http://www.soshiok.com/article/15138 What should have been a double birthday celebration turned into a nightmare when a stranger gatecrashed the party and overturned 11 trays of food. Singapore, April 5, 2011 WHAT should have been a double birthday celebration turned into a nightmare when a stranger gatecrashed the party and overturned 11 trays of food. The caterers had just set up the buffet, and the guests had not even started eating yet. Travel consultant Anna Tan, 42, the mother of the birthday girls, aged 12 and 16, was left speechless. The uninvited guest tried to run away, but Mrs Tan's husband and two workers from the catering company, Stamford Catering, managed to prevent him from escaping. Mrs Tan described the man as medium-built, about 1.7m tall, and in his 40s. Said Mrs Tan: "He did not panic at all, even when the police arrived." She added that when her husband asked why he did it, the man repeatedly asked if he had injured anybody. Her two daughters were close to tears. Their birthdays were 10 days apart and the family decided to celebrate them together last Saturday night. Mrs Tan had ordered a buffet costing $460 and also prepared food for a barbecue. The incident happened at the open area next to Block 546, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 at about 6.30pm. About 70 guests, comprising relatives and friends of the birthday girls, were already present. Mrs Tan recounted: "I was at the barbecue pit, trying to start the fire with my husband when I heard the trays hitting the floor. "At first, I thought that the workers hadn't placed the trays properly, causing them to fall. I got a huge shock when I turned around and saw all the food on the floor." The floor was splattered with fried rice, curry chicken, vegetables, spring rolls, and other food items. The barbecue pit is a few metres away from the buffet line. Mrs Tan said she had never seen the man before, but some of the residents who had gathered after hearing the ruckus said that he lived in a nearby block. They then called the police, who have classified the case as mischief and are investigating. About 10 parents had witnessed the spectacle and left with their children even before the party started. Meanwhile, the catering staff called their operations manager, Mr Francis Tay, 56, to inform him of the incident. Said Mr Tay: "I didn't believe my staff when they described what happened to me over the phone. "When I got there, I was completely surprised." More food Luckily for Mrs Tan and her family, some kitchen staff were still around and were able to prepare another seven trays of food for them. Said Mr Tay: "That was the best that we could do at such short notice." At about 8.30pm, the buffet line was set up again. Mr Tay said it was still uncertain if they would bill Mrs Tan for the extra food. As for the gatecrasher, he told Lianhe Wanbao he had lost control when he saw the trays of food as he had only a bowl of instant noodles for breakfast. The man, who claimed to be unemployed, said: "I don't know why I got angry or why I did that. "I also didn't know how the family will react if I apologised to them personally so I hope to do it through the papers." Mrs Tan said that she accepted his apology. "People might think that he did it because we offended him. So I'm glad he has clarified the matter," she said.

  6. I read with interest the other thread on Do's and Dont's during this month As per the above, taking into account how auspicious some group of people are when it comes to date/numbers, against the present condition, would you make 'big' decisions within this month or otherwise... For example, getting hitched, moving into new house, register/set-up a new company etc Well, the word 'big' is subjective but in overall would you or would you not. There is certainly no right or wrong answer. I am asking to test the ground because there could be a few 'strategic' decisions I'd have to make involving my partners and these decisions could have bearing on other matters. I might share later on what is the situation I'm in... Kamxia...
