Nissan GTR smokes a Mercedes-Benz A45S (quite literally)

A video made its way onto social media, featuring a Nissan GTR and a Mercedes-Benz A45S AMG 4MATIC Plus drag racing against each other. It was unclear where this incident took place. Here's the video for your viewing pleasure: For those that do not know, this variation of the A45S is the latest model with the highest specifications currently offered on the market. Japanese Vs German Engineering Despite the late reaction from the A45S, you can see that this 2.0-litre turbocharged hatchback quickly caught onto the 3.8-litre Godzilla within seconds. What fascinated me was the brilliance of Japanese engineering that allowed the >10 years old GTR, to go head-to-head against a modern-day sports car. Renault Megane RS tries to outrun a Mercedes-Benz GLA45 and fails

The 22-second video takes place in the CBD area of Singapore, along Central Blvd. It's not a Hyundai The caption of the video states that the car racing the Mercedes is a Hyundai, but it's not. It's a Renault Megane RS Manual vs DCT Towards the end of the video, you'll notice that the GLA overtakes the Megane RS before the video cuts off. Credits to its clever all-wheel drive system, the GTR can effectively put down its 545bhp and 630Nm of torque on the drag strip. Recently, however, British publication EVO took out the GTR and pit it against Porsche's new 911 Turbo - and found otherwise. In comparison, the 991 gen Turbo has 520 horses - 25 fewer than the GTR. But it weighs 1,665kg - compared to the GTR's 1,746kg. That could have given it a slight advantage.

A couple of years ago, we witnessed a race between a Porsche 911 GT3 Carrera Cup car and a Boeing 747 have a go at each other on Changi Airport's runway. With more than 400bhp, the Porsche managed to win the jet. Now, it seems like someone managed to get a Lamborghini Huracan and a Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet together on a empty runway. The U.K. launch of the all new BMW i3 saw groups of journalists driving out to ex-F1 circuit Brands Hatch in a fleet of brand new i3s. In an unexpected twist, BMW lined up professional instructors in a pair of V8-powered M3s, the idea being that the journalists drag-race them from a standing start to 100km/h. The i3′s electric drivetrain generates output of 170bhp and a maximum torque of 250Nm, which is immediately available from a standing start. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, with a limited top speed of 150 km/h for efficiency reasons. On the other hand, the 4.0-litre M3 dishes out 414bhp and 400Nm of torque. It sprints to the century mark in 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 250km/h. Apart from the wonderful soundtrack of the M3, you can see in the video that the i3 stays ahead initially because of its wall of immediately available torque, delivered with no gear changes and crossed with low kerb weight. Mercedes A 45 AMG vs CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake in quarter mile race

Recently, Auto Express setup a quarter mile drag race between two AMG models. They are the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake and the 'entry level' AMG, the A 45 AMG. The competition feels like David vs Goliath as the CLS 63 AMG has a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine that generates 518bhp while the 45 AMG makes do with a turbocharged 2.0-litre that makes 355bhp. In terms of engine capacity, the CLS63 is more than two times that of the A45. Is the A45 destined to lose the drag race to its much more powerful sibling?
