  2. i dunno what to say... banned from driving for 5yrs but posting out liao.. ban for wat  http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_670713.html A JAPANESE financial controller was fined $6,000 and banned from driving for five years for causing the death of a motorcyclist in a road traffic accident. Goto Shobun, 37, pleaded guilty to negligently causing the death of Mr Ting Ee Boey, 50, while making a right turn from Lornie Road into Thomson Road on Aug 23, 2009. The court heard that he had failed to keep a proper lookout at the signalised cross-junction and encroached into the path of the motorcyclist who was proceeding straight from the opposite direction. Mr Ting died about 14 hours later of head injuries. Shobun's lawyer told the court in mitigation that the accident occurred as a result of a momentary lapse of concentration. He said his client, who has a law degree in Japan, has a spotless driving record, and is due to be posted out by end-month. Shobun could have been jailed for up to two years or fined or jailed and fined for causing death by doing a negligent act.

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_645288.html AN AUSTRALIAN had his three-week jail term for being unfit to drive set aside, after the High Court found it 'troubling' that he was convicted on an amended charge without being given the opportunity to defend himself. Justice Steven Chong said the non-compliance with the Criminal Procedure Code was particularly serious in this case, as the prosecution had not produced evidence to support the amended charge. On June 23, 2008, John Peter Worrall, 60, the vice-president of oil company Swiber Offshore Construction, was driving home to his Bayshore condominium in East Coast at 11pm, after meeting colleagues at Harry's Bar in Far East Shopping Centre. His car went up a kerb and hit a tree along Bayshore Road. He was later arrested for drink-driving. After an eight-day trial that ended in August last year, he was convicted not of drink-driving, but of being unfit to drive. He was also convicted of not exercising due care and attention while driving, causing the accident - a charge he faced originally in addition to the drink-driving one. He was sentenced to three weeks' jail and fined $6,000, and was disqualified from driving for four years on the first conviction, and fined $800 and given a four-month driving ban on the second.
  4. Everytime when a car has been serviced by a distributor, the distributor would indicate the next mileage due for servicing Or month due for servicing whichever is earlier. I am just wondering if it is ok to just to send our car for the next servicing based solely on the Mileage and ignore the Month due. I ask this because I have travelled overseas for 3 months after my car's last servicing. The car is due for servicing this month or a mileage of 30148 Km which ever is earlier. However, I have cloaked only 24234Km till now. Wouldn't it be a waste of $$$ to send the car for servicing 5000km before its mileage is due simply because the duration has been six month since the last service ??? Any brothers here face this scenario before ??? Would you still send your car based on the 6 month period still ???
