  1. Slump in Singapore vehicle sales to worsen in 2019: Fitch ** I doubt that would be the case. Most likely they will reduce the quota to improve the road congestion. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/companies-markets/slump-in-singapore-vehicle-sales-to-worsen-in-2019-fitch *********************************************************************************************The contraction in vehicle sales will accelerate next year and hit rock bottom in 2021 despite an improving consumer outlook and a rise in ride-sharing demand, said a Fitch Solutions report yesterday. It noted that the drop in new vehicle registrations will worsen sharply from an estimated 11 per cent contraction this year to 20.1 per cent next year. In the longer term, new vehicle registrations will continue sliding, contracting at an annual average rate of 25.4 per cent over 2020 and 2021 before bottoming out. A rise in ride-sharing demand may also have mitigated some of the pressures during this contraction. However, Fitch analysts said the demand for vehicles from ride-share firms is unlikely to persist to the same extent over the remainder of their forecast period as Uber agreed to sell its South-east Asia business unit to its main rival, Grab. "We believe that this will diminish the pace at which vehicles will be purchased for ride-sharing purposes as there will be less competition and therefore less urgency to expand operating fleets in the country
  2. The important of a business name..............koh lian sia............ A Belgian chocolate company is the latest casualty of an unfortunate name-association which saw it linked to a notorious terror group. By Brianna Roberts 7 NOV 2014 - 10:01 AM UPDATED YESTERDAY 3:42 PM 0 The makers of ISIS chocolates will change their name to ‘Libeert’ to avoid association with the terror group formerly known as ISIS. The director of the company, which has been around since 1923, Ignace Libeert, said they experienced a slump in sales as media coverage of the terror group's activity intensified. “When we saw that the orders, which were planned to get in at the beginning September for this Christmas, they didn't come in from the States or the UK, and we said: 'What's going on here?' “And they said yes, we have orders but the name ISIS is actually disturbing because our consumers are very upset with that name.” The chocolate company is the latest in a long list of companies to suffer from the unwanted association. The family of an 8-year-old Sydney girl called Isis came forward last month, complaining they had been discriminated against because of the association. And more than 38,000 Isis’s from across the world have signed an online petition to the media to stop using their name to describe the terror group. A British adult retailer apologised in August after launching a range of lingerie named Isis, but said it did not support jihadists in Iraq and Syria and was standing by its name. The word originally comes from an Egyptian goddess who was worshipped as an ideal mother and wife, and until recently has had mostly positive connotations. Chocolate bars bearing the name ISIS have already hit the shops for Christmas, so the company is now preparing for the Easter holidays. It will take until January 2015 for the full transition to the company's new name to be completed. http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/11/07/isis-chocolates-change-name-after-sales-slump
