Firespitter Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Hatch back = Black/beige interior Sedan = 2 tone beige I would love to kill someone if I just could get black/beige interior for my sedan. The alternative was to pay $1000 more to get that interior color but it made no sense to pay more yet get less (Boot space I mean). ↡ Advertisement
Robin 4th Gear September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Hi all, I just collected my KIA RIO today. Heard from SE that the auto version still cannot be approved on the road. Have to wait for the LTA to approve. But the way, mine is a manual. Overall, a very decent car. Rgds. congrats ... pls update the FC chart in the main pg once it stabilises
Firespitter Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 The lack of certain accessories is a BIG welcome for me though. AIRBAGS - You would never want this to activate. If I remember correctly, the airbag steering wheel of a Jap car costs about $3000+/-. I would guess a safety belt in most cases are adequate. If it wasn't enough due to the severity of the accident, you're scr*wed, airbag or none. Fog Lights - Mostly a poser thingie IMHO. There aren't fogs in Sillypore, and even if there were, those puny little lights would be inadequate anyway. Sun Roof - OK. This one I gotta admit I would have loved to have in my car as standard. (By the way, I had been stranded with a jammed sunroof just when it started to pour in my previous car) ABS - Subjective safety item. I think I'm good enough at modulating my brakes. Electric mirrors - How often do you adjust your mirrors? I guess there will be cobwebs on my manual mirror adjuster after a few months.... Morale of the story is while some welcome the "extras" in a car, bear in mind that these extras do cost the manufacturers some money as well as that snowballs to the final sum that you pay for your car. Do you really need them at all? Or are you just falling into their "My car has this & that feature" sales pitch? My Rio may be basic but I'm actually happy I paid less to get the car I want. I wouldn't want to imagine how much more I have to fork out if the car came with extras I may not agree to have.
Mdfaz 2nd Gear September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 haha.. i'm not getting the new rio. driving the cerato bro ur leather seats are beige is it? no other colour to choose from? beige gets dirty easily than balck or grey.
Mdfaz 2nd Gear September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 agreed. you get what you paid for. if you prefer standard features, then probably get another car. but personally i like the new rio cuz of the sportier design, both exterior and interior. as for fog lights and sunroof, though it's not important, i feel it adds a touch of 'coolness' to the car. enjoy your ride! and update the FC also! Ahlaw1978 Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Hi all, Will update on the FC on the New KIA RIO after my car stabilises. Now, it is still in the run-in period. I agreed with what the other bros say. Alot of ppl buying cars falls for those sales "sweet talk". Like this car has this and that...blah blah. But you have ask yourself. Do you really utilise those items everyday? Jus becos other car is equipped with those stuff, ppl probably dun wan to feel "lose out". Most impt thing, you must have a comfort level to own a certain car. When you feel a certain car suits ur comfort level (being it finacially or watsoever), just go for it. Cheers. Sgt1086 Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 I also agreed that we can save on paying for unncessary guages. But did you guys observe that the pricing of the new rio is somehow equivalent to that of its brother cerato which comes with SRS, fog light and auto side mirror? how come like that? Eugene79 Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Err actually hor...if you really wan to compare cerato with the new rio. - cerato is a big drinker like martix.... - the changing of gear is not as smooth as rio - rio look more sportly. - rio is a new model on the road but it is gd that cerato come with those extra item which rio is lack off with a different of just a few thousand. this however make rio a bit overprice which bro here got their car already? 1.4 or 1.6? M or A? I book my rio 1.6M H/B and they told me that LTA has not approve the car to be on the road till now!! they said have to wait till next week.....hope i won't kana SFY 4xxx
Leng Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Just wanna check with you how much you paid in total for 1.6L Rio?Mine is $49200 with leather seats..but 1.4L oni..standard package with reverse sensor and alarm which my SE consider "freebies".. Anyhow after driving my Rio for a few days, i felt comfortable with the car..nice ride so far..
Sgt1086 Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 I am thinking of getting rio too. Have tested both the 1.6AT and MT. Like the smooth and powerful CVVT AT. But the price now is still abit of steep . Dun mind paying the current price if it comes with fog lamp, scuff plate, auto control side mirror, remote alarm and reverse sensor! Toalson 1st Gear September 14, 2005 Share September 14, 2005 Congrats on ur purchase. In fact i tested drove the 1.4A, quite a good pick up, but sadly a engine note a bit too noisy for my liking. Got quite a lot of nice little stuff in the cabin.

Mdfaz 2nd Gear September 14, 2005 Share September 14, 2005 the main reason why it's priced so close to cerato is because it's a new model. those who buy early will probably pay more. wait for a few months and the price will surely drop. c&c might even bring in airbags and abs as standard features for the later batch. i was one of the first few to get the cerato. paid $63k for it. but barely 3 months later, price dropped and c&c added in abs and airbags. u win some, u lose some. ↡ Advertisement
