Just for your info. they (Asialinx) will come to meet you [thumbsup] instead of you need to travel there and meet them. So you can sit in and listen what they've offer [sleeping] , so you can stay open minded and see what's their offering [confused] . If need to pay more [hur] , just tell them thanks and show them the "door" [rifle] . Sample right?

you are right. the rep from asialinx did come all over to eastpoint to meet up with my dad to talk abt the matter. I dunno how convincing the rep was but my dad had agreed to go down to their office this afternoon to "sell" his membership.

it may be simple for ME to walk out of somethng i might not be comfortable with. But my dad is so sold on the idea that he can "get back" his money that he even quarelled with my sis over the matter as my sis had told him to sell his membership to her instead, so she can burn the docs and forget the about the whole matter - period.

if its me or you - oneself, its quite easy to come to a decision. but when it concerns our next-of-kin, its a whole different story.

now i am only hoping he will be as firm as he said he will be this afternoon.....i am givign the session 1 hour tops, then i am walking out.

Keep the timeshare and sell off the days to recover the capital lah..... yes, it'll take years..... but at least you slowly get back the $$$$.

Unless you you yourself lah..... that was why your dad bought it for right? (Why not use it?)

neither me nor my sis knew abt the thing until they came home one day with the signed papers (10 years ago).

we did not understand why they bought such a thing as we were not regular travellers and my dad said it was more for "investment".

so "investments" it was .... when they wanted to sell it off abt 3 yrs later, they were "forced" to "invest" another $7k (you know how old ppl succumb to pressure - my mom was told to remain in the locked auditorium while another guy accompanied my dad to withdrawn the money).

today, i will be going to this office and maybe i'll get to test how strong their doors are.

Why don't try using it to see if its even legitimate. Else don't even pay the yearly maintenance........

Once you've used it and understand more, then you can start thinking of how to seel off your entitlement whenever you don't want to utilise it.

This way, you can recover your yearly maintenance, plus some of the capital back.

actually, they paid in full when the bought the membership .... and in these 10 years, never paid any "maintenance fees" before ..... coz never made use of it even once.

where does that put us now ?

I'd advise checking up on the time share, rather than doing this re-selling thing.

You want to know what you bought already. Know that as 1st priority.

Want to sell, keep or whatever.... leave that to later.

See where you can go for holidays? What system is it (weeks or points system)? How to go about booking? Call the booking hotline to find out how to book should you pay your maintenance. How much is the maintenance? etc. Most importantly, read your contract with the timeshare on the rules & regulations.

Then I'd advise that you plan for a trip to the destination. You would by then know how easy or difficult to book and the procedure to do so. Check to see if the maintenance is more expensive than say if you were to book the resort from the open market. (If not worth it, then the timshare has no value already). Then plan to get rid of it..... since no maintenance all the while, you can just write it off as you've paid the membershhip in full

Since 10 years and never paid any kind of fees..... very dubious..... means also likely no affiliation to RCI which most timeshare will tie in with. You can call RCI local office.(find info here http://www.rci.com/RCI/) to find out if your timeshare is included, just that you've never been a member to enjoy the exchange facility.

Good Luck!

hi, i got a call from Asialinx and the consultant came over my house this afternoon.

He asked me to sign a quotation request form and he said most prob willing to offer me 100% of what we paid for ($5500 + $5000 maint fees).

I shd be receiving a call in a few days to have a 2nd meeting at his office at Burlington Sq, #10-02.

After which there will be a 3rd and final meeting at ths lawyer's office at Chinatown pt.

He said that I will only pay the company $500 processing fee upon me getting the $10500.

I asked many many times do i need to pay anything before I receive the $10500.

His answer is always no and i only need to pay $500 processing fee, after the $10500 is deposited into my acct

the time line for the transfer to go thru after signing the papers at the lawyer is 6-9 mths...

anyone has experience on this??

YSC and Hanyoung,

can help? any advice?

thnx!!

don't u think this sounds too good to be true especially when we have pple posting how difficult it is to get rid of TS.

regardless of company name that they use, the MO is usually the same. anything to do with legalities, ask for a copy of the contract & tell them that you want it to be vet by yr own lawyer. don't be pressured into signing anything.

Same. I have used a few times and total costs 60% recovered liao. Just one more stay at Scotland's castle and I am in the black. :D

I still holding my timeshare since 1984. Never thought of selling. As good as write-off. Fortunately, my timeshare was not expensive. Use it a few times and cost is recovered.

Think about it. If you are in arrears of $5,000 in maintenance fee, I wouldn't want your time-share even if you give me FOC. If no arrears at best I offer you is $1k or so.

Wah.... so many report that use a few times can cover liao...... basket, I have 2 and they take an average like 20 years of yearly usage of entitlements before I can break even.

If use a few times can cover..... then why the complains?????

don't entertain these people, they can turn hostile if you decided not to take their offer.

If you consider it as a written off investment, tell them you have sold yours :D
